Hello there. My name is David Warner and i have an isue with my Xbox 360 and i wondered if you could help me.
Basically, the disc drive will not open. I have tried everything to try and get it to open but i have had no luck and I'm stuck on what to do next. The rest of the console is fine, in fully working order. I don not want to try anything more myself-I have decided to seek professional help. Anything you tell me would be greatly appreciated.

Likely that for some reason the Xbox is having a hard time reading the disc and it is spinning the drive trying to search for files on the disk. If you aren't having the same issue with other games then recommend to resolve this issue then simply install the game onto your hard drive and the game will then only need to be accessed for verification only and the game will be played off your hard drive and not your disk drive. Here are the instructions for insalling a game to your hard drive:
Install Xbox 360 games on your hard drive from a game disc
Note Installing an Xbox 360 game on a hard drive requires between 4 and 8 gigabytes (GB) of free disc space.
Insert the game disc into the disc drive.
Note After you insert the disc, the default option is to automatically start the game. If the game starts, exit the game, and return to the Xbox Dashboard.
From the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox.
Select the game you want to install.
Press Y on your controller.
Select Install to Hard Drive.
A progress indicator appears while your game is being installed on your hard drive.
Installing an Xbox 360 game might take several minutes.
Multidisc game? Install each disc to your hard drive.
Play a game from your hard drive
Insert the game disc into the disc drive.
Go to My Xbox, and select the name of the game you want to play.
Note The game disc must be in the disc drive, even though you have installed the game on your hard drive. The console will automatically play the game from your hard drive, but the disc has to be present.
Hi, first let me say that as far as the DVD drives go I don't really think there is a significant difference in any of them. It basically boils down to who offered Microsoft a DVD drive cheaper. Next, I would strongly recommend that you get the same model/part number DVD drive.Reason is that you will have to do alot of work trying to get a different drive to work in your system. such as "flashing the drive" or having to change the sisterboards to make it work.
YOU HAVE HARD WARE ISUES. OR DEFECTIVE DISC. CHECK ALL THESE BEFORE CONTINUING. HARDWARE UPDATES. ONCE YOU LOADED THAT DISC THE PROCESSOR MAKES A NOTE (IT CAN'T READ THE DATA) THE UPDATE MAY BE FOUND IN A DAY OR A WEEK, KEEP LOOKING FOR UPDATES EVERY DAY. CHECK THE READ SIDE OF THE DISC FOR WAVY RAINBOWS. IF THIS IS THE CASE USE THE DISC REPLACMENT PROGRAM PROVIDED FOR FREE AT XBOX.COM IN THE SUPPORT SECTION. HAPPY GAMING AND HOPE TO SEE YOU IN GEARS OF WAR TWO..
This problem is caused by your disc drive.... A new disc drive bought off of ebay, generally costs about 50 bucks, including the shipping and handling..... You will need to open your xbox to get the model number... yes, it does matter... Once you get the new disc drive... you need to open up the old disc drive... and you will see a memory chip inside and you will need to be VERY careful not to rip any of the parts it is connected to... once you have the chip out... you will need to take the chip out of the new disc drive, and replace it with the chip from your old disc drive... (each xbox 360 has its own unique memory, which can only otherwise be installed by flashing it through a sata computer which much more complicated than it really should be).... once you put the old chip into the new disc drive... put everything back together... for a tutorial on opening an xbox 360 and also fixing disc drive in your 360... i recommend youtube,,, and the person's name i recommend is "fixyourownxbox" These videos are definitely helpful, and saved me mucho dinero $ :D.... Good luck... if you have anymore questions, dont be afraid to ask... i would be more than happy to answer them

Hello brian, i had the exact same problem with my xbox 360 and it is not your tv , it is simply the laser lens inside the disc drive. here are the steps you need to follow:
1)you need to take off the faceplate,
2)you need to pull the disc drive out, it will slide out easily, if the disc drive is stuck tap quite vigourosly on the top of the case (trust me it will not get damaged) while pulling out the disc drive.
3)open the disc drive and then take out the laser's lens and give it a good clean. the laser sometimes gets very dirty from sucking in dust particles from the air.
if this guide doesent help email me on: firstname.lastname@example.org

I bought a second hand drive from a seller on Ebay and swapped out the motors...basically replaced the hardware mechanisms. samsung drives being the oldest 360 drives tend to wear out first. If you cant get 2nd hand for reasonable price get one from Ebay coming from Hong Kong.. Thanks Tom
The box isn't loading the decoder softwarer for the Disc. The Xbox discs are encoded HD DVD-ROM discs, and the box needs to recognize them so it can load the decoder software. It probably says "play dvd" on the xbox dashboard right?
From what I no when the 360's light indicated flashes yellow it means it's overheated, try letting cool down. I have had so many problems with my 360 and the cdrom drive is number 1. When my drive started making all that noise i almost started to cry. What i did was called the Xbox Helpdesk and they fixed the problem right away. Call the Xbox Helpdesk at this number: 1-800-469-9269 (This munber will get you through faster). if you ahve any more questions just let me know....
