SOURCE: trimmer doesn't start

Soaking these carbs overnight in strong carb cleaner solution can possibly damage the sensitive check valves in the H and L circuits. Zama states NOT to soak their diaghram carbs and others recommend only cleaning them with non-flammmable brake cleaner spray. Never soak the top (primer-base assembly) and the check valves (2) can be damaged also.

start with the basic.

rest sparkplug on metal part of bike and turn over spark ok next is fuel remove carbs and clean ensure all passage ways are clean and moving parts are free to move.
check tank has been drained of fuel check for rust if rust present use rust remover or kream takes 3 days.
clean fuel filter.
clean air filters.
check that youre bike has no low oil pressure cut out if so clean oil filter and replace oil, check oil pressure is maintaining.
if in doubt lubricate wd40 and duck tape can solve 88% of problems.

STARTING PROBLEMS ?? For a gas engine to start basically you need two things..fuel delivery and good spark....remove the spark plug ...Is it wet with gas??IF YES good you have fuel going into the cylinder.BUTwhat about spark?..Put the plug back in Pull the plug wire use a wooden closepin to hold the wire real close to the top of the sparkplug and have someone pull thr cord you should see little sparks jumping from the metal connector on the end of the plug wire to the sparkplug if you have spark.. if you have both fuel and spark maybe you have bad gas??You could try shooting a little starting fluid[ether] into the sparkplug hole screw the plug back in and try starting again..Goodluck RW...

change faulty sparkplug or ht lead, check lead by holding sparkplug end near to engine nearly touching, have someone turn engine over whils checking for spark jumping,if spark present then not lead, change spark plug,if sparkplug ok then check pressure in cylinder, poss piston damage

2001 gti won't start, it cranks.

the first thing to do is find out whats missing, you will need to see if it has fuel going to the engine, this is done with a fuel pressure gauge, then you need to check for spark, remove a sparkplug wire from a sparkplug and with a spark tester check for spark, there could be a loss of spark or fuel and last thing may be a broken timing belt.

I just bought a 1986 nissan pick up we bought a battery, a fuel filter, and a starter and it still wont start what could be the problem.

it could be many things - this is what a mechanic would check.

the main things you need to start the engine is fuel a spark and air.
if one if these are not present the vehicle will not start.
check that the air filter is not blocked
check that the ignition sytem is working and a spark is present at the spark plugs and that they are clean and set correctly.

if the vehicle is running on diesel ensure the injectors are working a spark is not needed as the fuel will ingite through compression.

ensure that fuel is getting into the cylinder and that the cylinders have compression. this can be checked by fitting a compression guage in the sparkplug hole and cranking over the engine.

check that the exhaused is not blocked and that the burned gas can escape.

i hope this was helpful.

Will not start after heavy rain storm my bike is a 1997 kawasaki ninja 750 zxr

You may have a simple problem with water in the electrics.

IF you have no spark at the sparkplugs.
Disconnect your battery.
Check voltage and recharge if necessary.
Check the fuses, (as per Owner's Manual) as water in connections are akin to a short circuit and fuse's blow to prevent component damage.
Remove sparkplug leads and spray some water repellent agent like WD-40 or RP7 into them and shake out. Spray a liberal amount onto sparkplug tops (do not remove plugs at this stage). Replace plug leads.
Spray around the joins of the handlebar switch cluster that has the Engine Stop button.
Spray around the ignition coils and CDI unit.

Some water may have entered your magneto/generator cover and contacted the stator coils and pulse coil. This provides the power to recharge your battery and run the lights. You can remove the generator cover and spray around the back edge of the rotor to displace any water present...let stand on sidestand to help with drainage.

Reconnect charged battery and briefly check function of all lights, then try the starter.

If you HAVE spark but still not starting, likely to be water in the fuel system.
Place bike over a tray or work area.
Turn fuel tap off and disconnect fuel hose.
Place glass beaker under tap and turn on to reserve...check fuel for water at the bottom of beaker under fuel. Drain and replace fresh fuel if water present.
Undo drain plugs beneath each carburetor and let fuel drain, replace fuel hose and turn fuel tap to reserve and let a small amount of fuel to run thru lines and float seats to flush. Turn tap OFF and replace carby drain plugs.
Take out air filter element and check for moisture, blow dry if present, wipe out airbox.
Might be an idea to drain and replace your engine oil (water in oil will give it a milky look) once she's been warmed up again. Goodluck and cheers.

Have a 120000 btu fuel fired torpedo heater that fan spins and fuel drips but no spark

fuel is atomized by the blower fan, and a sparkplug provides the ignition source. this sparkplug provides constant ignition spark for the process.

Sparkplug good? gas at exhaust indicates unburt fuel.Try taking oof sparkplug wire and holding to ground metal (not Painted) on bike, do you see a spark?Dry plugs? all Plugs?Check , Coil, Lumpy sounds like dry cracked sparkplug wires. With all Combustion Engines it's either Gas or Spark investigate.Good Luck.

Will not start

you dont need a manual. you need competent troubleshooting knowledge.

do you have an ignition spark? if you do then it will fire up on WD40 or StartingFluid sprayed in the opened carb. if it does and you have a clean fuel supply flow. clean the carb paths.

If no ignition spark present, check wiring, meter the coil for possible open circuit,
