Yes, I had the same problem.

I bought a new 30 GB hard disk off e-bay (shopname starts with DISI....). Model: Toshiba MK3006GAL, price: 46 Euros. I was able to install it myself and after formating the device and updating firmware it works perfectly now. (You will find the whole story easily on other forums if you google bwprius yh-j70.

I think I just managed to fix mine - had to replace the hard drive.
The YH-J70 uses same drive as generation 3&4 ipods - that is; Toshiba MK2004GAL - a 1.8 inch drive 5mm thick. They can be found on ebay quite easily.
For more info on how to do it see here:

Hope this isn't too late to be of help, good luck!

Yes. did you drop it? i dropped my old samsung yh-925gs and the same message came up. i had to carefully unscrew it, and reattach the hardrive. it is easy, and you will see what to do. just take it appart, notice where the hardrive is, see the unconnected connection, and click it back together. it is surprisingly easy.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I was in the middle of formatting my yh-j70 when it became disconnected. now when i try to turn it on it will just keep turning off then on again continuously. what can i do?

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya.

Sad to say but you have a bricked phone right now. Un-bricking your phone requires special tools and software. If your phone still has warranty.. try to ask your carrier if they can fix it for you. If not, bring your phone to a local cellphone guy and have it un-bricked. I hope this helps.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Hi, in my opinion1) rebuild your music album by music studio, 2)rebuild music database structure if first step not solve. using samsung yh-925 utility download from http://www.samsung.com/us/support/download/supportDown.do?model_nm=YH-925GS&mType=SW&vType=L&disp_nm=YH-925GS 3) update your device firmware if two steps fail.

I had the same problem - the hard drive had failed, which is a common fault. I bought a new one on eBay - a Toshiba MK3006GAL 30GB - which worked fine.

BUT... the drive came completely unformatted and I had to format it on a laptop first as I could not get it to format in the YH-J70. If the drive is FAT32 format, however, you should be OK to just put it in the YH-J70 and format it with Samsung Media Studio.

Did you try pushing the reset button and/or reinstalling the software? sometimes that helps. Also, I have a question for you: I am thinking of replacing the battery on my yh-j70, as it is getting weak, was it easy for you to open the player and can you then simply pull out the battery or do you have to solder? Would you happen to know where batteries can be bought for this unit? Thank you
