Incorrect power management

posted by Skumar2007 on Oct 11, 2007

I have recently purchased  ASUS P5LD2-VM motherboard. Everything is working fine except that the power management is incorrect.  The default elapse time to turn off my monitor is 20 minutes. Whenever I open my computer and work on any software, my monitor automatically turns off after 20 minutes although the application in which i am working is active. Then i have to press any key on my keyboard or move my mouse to power my monitor again.  Then again after 20 minutes the same thing happens.
Even when i watch tv on Windows Media Center the same problem persists.
Suppose I start watching tv at 10 am and i wish to pause live tv  at 10:20am, Live tv gets paused but at the same time my monitor also turns off eventhough the media center application is active.
Can anybody help me out?

Have you set up 'Power management' in Windows? The default is to power down the monitor after 20 minutes.
Right click on the Desktop and choose 'Properties' - Go to the 'Screensaver' tab. Look for the 'Power' button on the lower right.
You'll see the options available on the pop-up.
