Question about Yamaha RX-SL100 Receiver
Heard a pop sound and the audio stopped while watching tv. No sound from the receiver/surround system. Power button does nothing.
It could be a relay that burnt out, they usually dont show any signs of damage, or the motherboard could be fried too with no signs of damage eather! Hope this helps!

Testimonial: "If it is, is it worth (i.e. not likely to cost a lot) taking it to a shop for repair or just get a new unit?"
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Solved problem with Yamaha HTR-6040 AV Receiver. My daughter had inadvertently changed the program to "Direct Stereo" mode which allows sources to bypass the decoders and DSP processors so you can listen to 2-Channel PCM and Analog sources. Nothing to decode digital audio in this setting!

this sounds strange, but is true. you need to run your digital audio optical cable from your tv to your receiver (after, of course, connecting tv/receiver via hdmi). so, hdmi from blue ray to rec - hdmi from rec to tv - then optical from tv back to rec. it's round about, but that is how yamaha says (and the only way it works) to do it.

be more specific!...how is the tv hooked up? hdmi, component, straight to the tv, or into the amp then tv?....what audio out? optical, digital? also what are you trying to view? local programming? cable/sat? dvd? your best bet is to ignore video on the amp and go straight to tv. can't help u more until i have more specifics.

When using codes from a multi unit remote from say... the cable company, you have to check all the various codes for that brand. Some will turn it on but not off some will work the volume but not the menus. try manually inputing all the codes for that brand. Its a tedious process but the auto setup is not going to allow you to test all the functions like you should before commiting to one code. your remote should have come with a brochure containing all the codes for your particular type of unit and brand. Good Luck!

Hi Zanthena - my Yamaha rx v 2200 is doing exactly the same thing - did you manage to track the problem down? I have had my unit in for repair and the fault occurred again 6 hours after I re-installed it.
Any help would really be appreciated!
