First issue was ingiter would not glow - replaced defective timer and igniter began glowing, but will not light. have replaced both gas valve coils - same issue. I checked a working DG313 and notice after igniter glows, I get a distinct "click" and then the gas valve lights the burner. I never get a " click on the non-workinh unit - any suggestions on what to check next
Thanks, John

90% of all gas dryers lighting intermittently is resolved with new coil packs on the gas valve. The coils are replacable fairly easily and inexpensive.

For what it's worth: You can eliminate 3/4 of your work if you simply watch what the dryer does. Most have a peep-hole in the lower front covered by a small plastic plate. Remove the plate, start the dryer and look into the hole. If you hear a "click" right as you press the start button and the drum turns, you know the motor, timer and door switch is OK. If you then see a dull glow and a second click, ALL the thermostats, fuse-able links, gas igniter and wiring are OK. If you then see the burner ignite with the blue flame, the flame sensor, valve coils and fan are working fine. If you let it run for some time and then suddenly you only see the dull glow, but no click or blue flame, your gas valve coils are defective. (they will work when cool or cold, but not as they heat up from use) This also will stop the timer from moving since the timer runs when the coils are working well (the power to the timer comes through the coils - just figured this out today). If you don't see the dull glow, the ignition/igniter wire/element could be bad. Hope this helps folks. I see in the forums where one individual just says "Ignition coil" every time a gas dryer has a no-heat issue, but a vast majority of the problems comes from the $20.00 gas valve coils that most anyone can replace.
Hello- You will need to have the Coils replaced, they are not holding the valve open consistently, it is a fairly common issue and presents itself as you describe. The parts are fairly inexpensive but you should have a Tech out to change them for you. These are great dryers and I would have the Tech look through it while it's opened up...drum wheels and belt should be checked for ware. Hope this helps, best regards.
If you have not replaced your thermal fuse then thats most likely your issue. If the lint screen goes in on the top the thermal fuse will be located on the back of the unit. You need to remove the back cover and you will see it. Its a white plastic fuse on the blower housing. Its part number 3392519 if its skinny and long and replace the cycle thermostat next to it 3387134. Also if the fuse is bad (can be continuity tested) then check your venting because the fuse will blow from venting restriction or defective cycle therm. Good luck. also im assuming that your ignitor is not glowing because the fuse will kill the power to the ignitor. If the ignitor glows then the only thing you could be looking at would that your gas valve is stuck shut.
Chances are the hot surface glow igniter is not working. Most likely it is burned out. Set the controls to dry in high heat and note if the glowing coil does in fact glow. If not, it needs to be replaced.
Open the burner access door and then turn the dryer on. Watch inside the burner compartment for the glow coil to light up and glow. If all the controls are set correctly on the front control panel and the dryer is running, but the glow coil fails to glow, you've located the defective part. The glow coil will need to be replaced.
To remove the coil, turn off the gas first. Unplug the dryer from the electrical wall plug. Then remove the entire gas valve as an assembly. The nut on the gas valve to remove it from the gas supply pipe turns counter clockwise. There will be small sheet metal screws used to secure the plate to which the burner assembly parts are attached. The plate holds the entire assembly and is attached to the bottom of the dryer's cabinet.
Next, remove the glow coil from the burner assembly. Take the entire assembled part to the local appliance retail parts store for a replacement coil. Glow igniters are fragile and they break easily. Handle and install the new igniter carefully. Glow igniters are a non-returnable and non-refundable electric component.
Be advised that some new replacement igniters do not come with quick disconnect ends. In this case, it is OK to cut off the quick, disconnect from the old igniter and attach it to the new igniter. Simply clip off the wires several inches above, disconnect the old igniter, attach to the wires of the new igniter, and wire nut the two ends together. Repeat the process to attach the other set of wires and wire nut them together. There is no positive nor negative polarity to be concerned with. Additional Suggestions: Read the manufacturer's online Web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes and solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, instructions, pictorials and schematics, which may be available online.
because it is gas and i dont know if u have a licence to work on one
i advice you to call a qualified licenced repair person
how ever if u can see the glow coil it should be white hot not yellow
hard to look at
in order to work
if there is no glow coil then the highlimit may have over heated and preventing the dryer from working till it gets fixed
or glow coil is defective
if this s fine now u are looking for a defective safety gasvalve or flame sencer
of course broken wires or a defective motor switch will stop ignition too
the timer and temp selector switch and all thermostates need to be checked as well
i suggest a qualified licenced repair person your life/ wife and children are too important to play with do it right feel safe be safe
(solv ya prob)
sounds like glow bar or photo sensor not working properly. should be access panel to veiw ignition system, if glow bar turns white hot when dryer is started, try to clean face of photo senser and re-start. unplug dryer before cleaning sensor. timer will not start until dryer comes up to temp.
