Red line on monitor; unsure type of f2105 just know high def

I have an HP f2105 monitor and the screen has 1 red line about 3 inches in from the right side. I do not believe it is the computer as when you place the mouse on it the line is on top of the mouse.

The red line could be caused by the cable, or it could be a problem with the monitor. Pretty easy to test, though, just get another cable and swap it out.Sometimes the cable that snakes through the hinge gets worn causing display artifacts. Try flexing the hinge and see if the behavior changes.

I need to plug an HP f2105 monitor into an HP elitebook laptop

Elitebook has a vga port with is 15 pins. If the monitor only has DVI you can get a VGA-to-DVI-A cable. They are cheap and available on monoprice.com Make sure the monitor supports DVI-A

Make sure to check the DVI port on the monitor for the wide horizontal pin with two small pins on top and two underneath. See pic below.

Is my apex tv AT2702 high def??

According to apex its not and does not have a digital tuner the only way this can be high def would be 720P meaning 720 lines progressive scan.

Your aspec Ratio is 4:3 this indeed is a standard TV without a digital tuner so you will need a digital setop box or a digital tuner.

High DEF is not considered digital its conidered how many lines are displayed on the TV. For example 720p, 1080p .

Screen shuts off after 1 second

You may have power supply failure due to bad caps, bad inverter circuits (shorted IC/Transisotrs/Transformers), or bad lamps assmbly.
You need to open it up and inspct the inside and report back. Please look at my picturesso you know what you are looking for, I will be uploading the pictures of F2105 this weekend (I have two of them that I am working on, one has bad lamp assembly, real hard to repair, another one has bad screen (vertical bars/lines)

Please post back what you see inside. See the bad lamps album also.

First one and now 2 vertical lines on my HP f2105 monitor. Would this be the actual screen or a component that drives it? Thanks

Move the mouse cursor across the lines then check if it shows up fine. If it shows up fine, the problem is in the video card itself, not the monitor. It can be caused by VRAM or GPU overheating. Clean the video card thoroughly. Using a compressed air is a good alternative.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Have you tried hooking it up to an external monitor?
This would ensure that it's the screen and not the video card..
If you do that and you receive a good picture then it could be something as simple as a loose video cable. Or it could also mean something like a bad video card or the expensive one, a bad screen.

The whole screen is shifted 1 inch to the left.

When in high def and on the PC the formate buttom on the remote is disabled. The formate will have to be done with the high def remote or through the PC. You will have to contact the high def and the PC provider to adjust the format.
