I collect used magnetrons from microwaves that others throw out so i repair my own for free. All you need is a magnetron. Maybe a capacitor too. It could have a stuck relay.

My TAPPAN Microwave Oven Model Type: TM5430 B only shows S1 in the display and it doesen't react if i push any othetr buttons. What can i do ???

Unplug the unit, let it sit for a minute to clear power from the control board then plug it back in. If the display still shows S1, that could indicate a bad touch switch on the front panel, a bad connection between the touch panel and the control or a failure in the control. Unless you can get parts cheap and fix it your self, it's not worth paying for the repair.

My smeg microwave will not heat the food ...... possible causes

If everything else is working but it won't heat the food, the causes are the magnetron "common failure" or the high voltage capacitor and diode can be a factor, the three work together to heat the food. Depending on the nature of repair it can be close to the cost of a new microwave oven.

Smeg sa35mx microwave vibration noise when in use

The vibration can be due to either the transformer which is getting loaded when the magnetron is ON or it can be the vibration of the turn table - possible fault in the drive mechanism or irregular movement. If this is the transformer check the voltage and if it is heating up then it can be faulty , if not the mountings of the transformer can be tightened.
Also the turntable movement drive can be reset.

Fme24x not heating and burning smell with loud noise

Those are classic symptoms of a bad magnetron tube, the microwave source. It is possible to replace the part, but usually not worth it. The magnetron is expensive and you should let a professional do the repair. There are lethal voltages under the cover and the chance of microwave leakage if the repairs aren't done correctly. Between the part cost and labor charge, it's usually not much more expensive (sometimes even less!) to buy a new oven.

Smeg SA987CX error message E plus a high pitched continuous sound. Need to disconnect power to stop. This only seems to happen when I microwave. Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix.

Sounds like the Magnetron in your Microwave has shorted out causing it to scream .. lol own purely none technical term .
Its actually a harmonic caused by the magnetron's anode resonating , usual fault caused by breakdown of the filaments , it is pretty much had it a new magnetron would cost almost as much as a new microwave . it may just possibly be the power supply with an oscillator fault but again that is a symptom of a serious power drain problem that also points to the mag ... sorry Regards Vortash

I have recently been given a Smeg microwave, product No, SA987CX, but I have no instruction manual and would like to know where I can find one.

I have looked and I can't find one either. You can mail Smeg in the UK at support@smeg-service.co.uk They may be able to point you in the right direction.

Smeg microwave SA 31MX not heating is it repairable and at what cost and where at we live in werribee victoria

it is repairable, the problem is the magnetron needs to be replced ( an element that emits the micro waves ) but will need to be checked to make sure its not the capacitor that starts it or the circut that controls it.
repair shops vary so ask them about how much they would charge to replace the magnetron then you will be able to tell who will end up charging you the most and who would be cheeper(aprox $50-$75 plus parts

Microwave oven turns off

Many over-the-range microwave ovens suffer from intermittent problems caused by excessive moisture from the range/stove entering the microwave cabinet and collecting on the circuitry. Often the problem is with one or two simple connections that may need tightening or soldering. But, to repair these components, the microwave cabinet needs to be opened. So we recommend that you seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

It may be worth getting it repaired. Shop around for prices and see if it is worth your while to repair it or simply buy a new one :)
