Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

1 Answer

My honeywell thermostat model rth221b1000 worked fine for AC but now when using heat, the heat will not cut off on it's own, I have to do it manually. Any idea what might be wrong?

New thermostat worked fine in summer with AC, but now when using heat, it will not cut off automatically. I have to do it manually. I do have a blue wire that is not connected to anything but I read it was not used for this model.

You have 5 wires hooked up? What color is on the Y terminal? It is set on auto, heat and a temp low enough for the furnace to reach?

The problem could be with the heating unit or furnace and not the thermostat.

Recheck that the thermostat is wired correctly. If so,switch it to fan on and see if the fan comes on if the fan does not come more then there is definitely an issue with the furnace and not the thermostat.

If when you turn the heat on you hear the furnace fan start up (exhaust fan) then the problem is NOT the Thermostat....need some more info on the furnace...the Wiring in the thermostat should include a Jumper wire between RH & RC if you have 4 wires and no jumper required if you have 5 wires

Cool air not working with honeywell Model # RTH230B

Do you have a heat pump? If so, not compatible. What i did was move the jumper on the thermostat (RH RE). This is on the inside of the thermostat - NOT the red jumper!!! and got the AC working (the heat had already worked during the winter, problem only became apparent when I needed to use AC). I may have to change the jumper again when the season changes...not sure yet.

My heat wont turn off

if you have an emergency heat position we will assume you've got a heat pump. If you do not have a heat pump you have the wrong thermostat for your application. Need model of this thermostat, wire colors, termiation points (what terminal designator they are connected to), and if you have it where they were and the model of the last thermostat that worked correctly
