Question about Canon PIXMA iP6700D InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

NOt printing text

I own a 6700D and my friend also has one. Hers suddenly stopped printing any test in Black. It prints photos okay, it goes through the motion of printing text out of various programs including the text print page but the page remains blank. I have tried it in colour and that seems to work. But nothing in black. So I thought, New cartridge even though the one in there was full. That didn't work. I have used it on 2 other computers and does the same thing, leading me to believe it is something in the printer. Have set the printer settings to factory defaults in case, but no change. I have used a new cartridge out of my printer that I know works fine but it didn't help.I am slowly coming to the conclusion that it is an internal programming problem with the printer unless you are able to shed some other light on it.

Thanks in advance

Regards Ralph

Re: NOt printing text

The problem is the Printhead. The ink has dried up and therefore does not print. If you want to save the printer for  about  $15-20 there is solution that I bought that supposedly unclogges dried up printheads, I have NOT tried it yet, but being in the field it's just a matter of time. E-mail me back in case you have not thrown out the printer yet.

I70 Canon photo printer will not print after changing print cartridge.

Check the black cartridge and make sure the orange or yellow tape at the rear end is not still attached. If it covers the small hole on the top of the cartridge, the printer won't print black text.

Lexmark x6170 stopped printing text will only pint images

First, print a test page from the printer's menu and see if the black lines and text look okay on that. If there is no or poor black printing, you need to replace the black cartridges or try cleaning the cartridge's nozzle with rubbing alcohol. If that looks fine you need to check the printer's settings in its properties on the system lift of printers.

HP z2100 horizontal lines where the text or object are

Check for updated firmware and drivers. Also, if all your object and text or black try changing them to color and see if that helps, maybe there is something wrong with your black printhead, the black may not be used when printing photos, the printer may be using process black for photoes and real black for black text and objects.

Stripes on Images only - Text OK

Perhaps the CMY color heads need alignment. If you have not already done so, run a head alignment from the driver maintenance section. It will print out a page containing several lines and text, and request you select the closest-aligned images. After this is done, do another image print to check for improvements.
Normally, the printer uses the black cartridge for text and the CMY inks for images (even for black on photo and specialty paper). So when you are printing normal text pages on plain paper, only the black ink is used. A good check for this would be to print a normal text page, but select photo paper in the driver to trick the printer into using the CMY inks to make a substitute black text page. If this looks ok, then you are having issues other than cartridge alignment.
