Why the system automatically go to safe mode

If you are using Windows XP then you may have the /safeboot set in the boot.ini file which will force XP to always boot into Safe Mode.
When the system has started, click on Start then Run and type MSCONFIG as the command to run.
Open the Boot.ini page tab and make sure that the /SAFEBOOT option is not selected in the Boot options section of the page.
Save the change and restart Windows and it should start normally.

Using the F8 Method:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts you will see your computer's hardware being listed. When you see this information start to gently tap the F8 key on your keyboard repeatedly until you are presented with the Windows 7 Advanced Boot Options screen as shown in the image below.

  3. Using the arrow keys, select the Safe Mode option you want.
  4. Then press the enter key on your keyboard to boot into Windows 7 Safe Mode.
  5. When Windows starts you will be at a typical logon screen. Logon to your computer and Windows 7 will enter Safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you require, and when you are done, reboot to go back into normal mode.

I hate that screen. Everybody does. Thing is it know you hate it. It can sense your frustration. I recommend therapy. ";-}

Ok seriously.
Have you loaded any new software or perhaps downloaded anything lately? Yes It could be a virus of some sort or it could be something just not agreeing with it.
Even a "Windows Update" has been know to cause the much hated "We Apologize for ruining your day" screen.

Have you tried to boot up into safe mode yet. "Safe Mode" is for trouble shooting. It basically starts the computer with only the bare essentials. So if there has been something loaded it shouldn't effect a start-up in "Safe Mode".
Once it's in safe mode, if it starts try a system restore.

For safe mode start-up:
  • Start the computer and start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
For system restore:

  • Click Start, point to All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore.
  • On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time, and click Next.
  • Or type or paste the following command in the Start - Run box then press Enter.

This is really the only simple fix to this problem. The problem is it could be a software issue or it could be a hardware problem. When you get to the XP screen and it stalls, can you hear any repetitive clicking? Clicking is bad it usually means the drive has left the building.
It may also be a simple case of a loose connection. Have you tried removing then reinstalling it?

If you have access to another computer you can try removing the drive and installing it on the other computer as a slave. This will allow you to access the drive unless it's toast.

Give these (the one's you are comfortable with), a try and if you still have no ignition please let me know which ones you tried and I'll try and help.

I was hopeing somebody could help, this morning i went onto the laptop and then restarted the laptop, when i restarted the laptop the laptop kept on rebooting its self. i first comes up with compaq logo,...

Try to start in safe mode, then change the start up options so that the computer does not reboot on error. Then you can see what the BSOD (stop error) message is and troubleshoot from there.

My computer will not start - not even in safe mode.

One way you could try to read the message that is being displayed is to record a video during startup and play that in slow motion. That way, you might be able better understand the problem.

My hp lap top keeps going into option safe mode then shows me the first screen windows xp then goes back to option safe mode and other options

It is possible that your system boot was setup to safe mode everytime it boots up. You may try the steps below.

1. Boot your system to safe mode.

2. Go to Start then Run

3. On the run box type msconfig

4. Look for the tab boot.ini , under this tab uncheck the box that says safeboot then click apply

5. Restart the computer.

Keep me posted.
