Common defaults:
admin/admin
admin/password
admin/blank(no password)
blank(no username)/admin
root/admin
root/blank
also check the bottom of the router and see if its written there somtimes it is.
If you gave me the model and brand of the router i could give you the default one, which will work if the tech did'nt change it.
If the password has been changed then you will have to do a master reset of the router (normaly a small hole at the back that you use a pencil to press), but for that you will have to re-setup your router, if you don't know how to do this then you might be best trying to track that tech down.

    To clarify your question, I am assuming when you want the password for the router, you want the wireless password. If this is the case then do this on a working PC.

    Start>Run>Cmd (enter)

    in command window type ipconfig (enter)

    in the list look for your gateway, it will be somthing like 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, 10.1.1.1, 10.0.0.1.

    When you find this then type it into a web browser.

    You will then be asked for a password, try the passwords in the list above, one should work.

    Once your in the configuration screen, look for the wireless network settings button. When this page loads look for the WEP or WPA key it should be listed here, thats the password your after. Alternatively you could change the key to somthing that you will remember, but if you do this then you will need to change it on ALL computers. Don't change any settings in there that you don't know about or you will have big problems. Close the window down after you have retrieved the key.

If the password has been changed and you cannot locate it, then you will have to reset the router and reconfigure. Bummer.

If it is still on default then there are a list of default username/passwords to try until you get the right one.

How connect cisco 5015 vpn with barracuda linkbalancer 330

Your Internet gateway <--- primary router

Port #1 on primary router <---> VPN server
Port #2 on primary router <--> Load Balancer
Load Balancer <--> web-server #1
Load Balancer <--> web-server #2
Load Balancer <--> web-server #3

VPN traffic enters your network, through the router to the VPN server, and then VPN-server back through the router to your internal servers. Web-traffic goes through the Load Balancer, for distribution to the collection of servers.

Go to the router site by using 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.0 or 192.168.1.1 password is admin and leave the rest blank. Unless you have already set a password. You can configure your router settings there. Thanks for using FixYa! John

Have forgotten password. How do I find this?

Which password do you mean? The wifi passowrd or the admin password?
The admin password is likely to be password (if it hasn't been changed) but the Wifi password you will only be able to see if you can access the router.
Easiest way is to use an ethernet cable between the router and the computer. Open up the netgear admin page (admin & password), then on the left hand side click on Set-up and then select wireless settings. Your wifi password will either be written on the next page or you will see four boxes of numbers with a blue spot against one of them. That one is your passowrd.

Where is the wifi password for my 2wire wireless router. trying to connect my iphone 3g for faster internet

the default wireless passowrd or network key is located at the bottom left of the 2wire router. You will find a sticker that indicates the Serial Number, System Password and Wireless Network Key. The Wireless Network Password is is the 10 Digit Code located under the S/N.

If in any case you want to personalize the Wireless Network Key. You can access the gateway by opening a browser the type 192.168.1.254 it will ask you for a password use the System Password on the sticker. Click on Home Network then Click on Wireless Settings. You can also change the Network Name or SSID, The Authentication and the Wireless Network Key

Thanks for using Fixya

Hello. It appears my router is blocking VPN access to the office server. I can connect using the ethernet cable so have isolated the problem to the router firewall. How do I get around this? Thanks

Hi
I will make a couple of assumptions on you setup. First, you have some type of highspeed internet. You have a retail type router/firewall plugged into your internet modem. You are using a VPN Client software installed on a PC or Laptop. By stating that when you connected using your Ethernet cable, you were plugged directly into the Internet modem.

Basically, what you have here is a configuration issue with your Router/Firewall. I use the Cisco VPN Client Software from home. This software uses UDP over TCP port 10000. Your VPN Client will use something along this line as well. So, you need to do one of two things here. Determine what Protocol and Port your VPN software uses. Login into you Router/Firewall and add that to your outbound allowed traffic. Or login into your Router/Firewall and configure it to allow all outbound traffic.

If you are not sure how to do this, the documentation that came with your Router should contain a Tech Support number to call. They can walk you through this in short order. Otherwise, post your EXACT make and model of your Router/Firewall and I will try to get the information for you.

Hope this helps.
Brian

VPN connection issues

check if you can enable "VPN pass-through" on your home router.
try diabling its security features (firewall) one at a time and try afterwards.
last option perhaps try upgrading to the 5.06 version of the vpn client.

VPN

This example will demonstrate how to create a Virtual private Network (VPN) between two remote locations through the Internet. The VPN policy will use 3DES IPSec to securely send/receive encrypted data over the Internet. When the VPN tunnel is enabled, the two offices will virtually appear to be on the same local network. This example will consist of two DI-804V VPN Routers with a simple setup. The two remote offices in this example will be known as Office A and Office B. Both VPN Routers must already be set up and able to access each other. This is only an example, your setup will vary using the WAN IP address provided by your ISP. Please note the differences in the IP addresses for each office. We will begin by configuring the DI-804V at Office A. Start by going into VPN Settings under the Basic Setup menu. Step 1. In the Connection Name field, type in OfficeA. Click ADD. Step 2. A properties screen will appear for the new connection you have made. Fill in the appropriate information for Office A: Connection Name: OfficeA Local IPSEC Identifier: Local Remote IPSEC Identifier: Remote Remote IP Network: 192.168.1.0 Remote IP Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Remote Gateway IP: 192.170.0.2 Network Interface: WAN ETHERNET Secure Association: IKE Perfect Forward Secure: Enabled PreShared Key: 123456 Key Life: 28800 IKE Life Time: 3600 Step 3 Click SAVE. There should now be a VPN policy created for Office A. Now you will want to Save & Restart the DI-804V. Note: 123456 is an example of a preshared key, please fill in any secret preshared key you desire. Keep in mind that both sites require the same preshared key. Office A setup is now complete, we will now configure Office B with the other DI-804V, Follow the same steps previously with Ofice A to create a VPN policy. Step 1 Please change the appropriate information. Connection Name: OfficeB Local IPSEC Identifier: Local Remote IPSEC Identifier: Remote Remote IP Network: 192.168.0.0 Remote IP Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Remote Gateway IP: 192.170.0.1 Network Interface: WAN ETHERNET Secure Association: IKE Perfect Forward Secure: Enabled PreShared Key: 123456 Key Life: 28800 IKE Life Time: 3600 Step 2 Click SAVE. There should now be a VPN policy created for Office B. Now you will want to Save & Restart the DI-804V. After the VPN policies have been created for the two Offices, the two remote locations should authenticate and connect. To view the status of the VPN connection, go to the Device Status menu. On the bottom-left side of the menu, click on the VPN Status icon. A VPN Status pop-up screen will appear showing VPN connection status. If a VPN tunnel is active, the State should indicate Q-Estab. Go to a DOS prompt and ping the internal IP address of the remote network.
