Bad sending unit on the aftermarket pump, (take it back and put in a new one, have had that happen) or could be a bad wire connection, thourougly check your wiring first. (Most aftermarket pumps require you splice in a new electrical connector, check them out good first)
code p2069 refers to fuel gauge tank sensor---B---circuit intermittent causes wiring---poor connections--- fuel gauge tank sensor,. I would go for the sensor. Replace with genuine unit as aftermarket units are not always compatable with the settings in the CPU.
This problem is caused by a defective fuel gauge sending unit. The fuel gauge sending unit is located inside the fuel tank, the fuel tank must be dropped out of the car to replace it, this is about a 3 hour job and about $200.00 for an aftermarket pump/sending unit module, and $300.00+ for the AC Delco OEM fuel pump module which contains the sending unit, the two are not sold separately. sounds like its time for a new sendinding unit, this is the part that hold the fuelpump inside the tank, and has a float arm, this is what tell you how much gas is in the tank, heres a picture of it,this comes with everything even the pump,also make sure to wire in the new connector,these trucks have connector problem,good luck.also check the ground that go to that connector, follow them,may go to rear frame on the leftside, remove and clean them.
the filler hose has a vent pipe or hose inside of it or alongside of it. If the vent hose is blocked, you can't get the air out of the tank while it is filling so you end up with "Spitback" or pump kick off.
The aftermarket unit may not have a vent hose. Did the original pipe have an internal vent hose or external?
Gm has a real problem with fuel tank sending units. That is what is wrong. You need a fuel tank sending unit. You can only get them aftermarket with the whole fuel pump module, but you can buy them seperate if you buy it from the dealer.
I just fixed that problem in my 87 Toyota pick-up. My fuel gauge showed FULL all the time. The sending unit in your fuel tank has probably croaked. I had to drain the fuel tank, remove it, and try to remove the screws that hold the sending unit in. The screw heads ALL snapped off due to them being 21 years old. Ended up having to buy a new fuel tank, as we couldn't get the broken ones out of the tank. Found an aftermarket new tank for about $275 at Advance Auto. Sending unit is only avaliable from Toyota for about $125.
I have just done this job with aftermarket brake lines in three pieces, two 40" and one 30" joined by unions. I did not take the tank down, it is possible to reach the clips holding the brake line from the top reaching in with your fingers from the outside reaching over the frame. Make sure to have good light and a flashlight at hand. Above each clip holding the electric cable run you see next to the tank there is also a slot (in the same clip) for holding the brake line. I used the two long pieces in the rear and slid one in place, then joined it with the second one the short piece I used to do the final bend up to the junction block. The uninon for that one to the other two conveniently ended up right behind the front most clip holding the brake line and the fuel line to the chassis. I am not sure if I saved time or effort doing it this way I just shyed away from bringing down the tank as all I jacked up the car with was drive on ramps and there was not much space under it. Also the brake line did not conveniently burst when I had an almost empty tank to handle but the other way around...
