Pull ot the spark plug and look for any metal shavings on the plug. If you find some the saw in done. My first guess the saw was run with the wrong fuel mixture.

Remove the muffler check if the piston is scratched!! I am quite sure
This is the problem. If your are very lucky you might be able to fix the cylider by honing. In the worst case you have to get a new piston and cylinder kit.I reccomend a chineese aftermarket kit.or even better a used cylinder and piston from a friend in exange for a box of beer.

Older (early80s) 80cc jonesred wont stay started, It runs for a few seconds after i pull the recoil and only with the choke open the it stalls out

Fuel starvation, replace the filter in the fuel tank, check the fuel hose up to the tank for signs of leaks or cracks, if no better it will need a carb service, and clean the internal carb filter, as it is an old saw new diaphrams will probably be required.

How to control the amount of oil going to the bar and chain on a jonesred model 630 cghainsaw

The oil pump is adjustable, if you remove the cover/bar and chain, you will see the adjuster screw to the top left hand side of the oil pump, located just behind the sprocket, it is a black screw, it is marked around the outside from 1 to 4, 4 being the highest setting.

I have a craftman chainsaw with a 42 cc engine has compression of 90 lbs does it need rebuilt it wont start

90lbs is not enough compression, so yes rebuild, or more fiscal idea is get a new one, unless you can do the labor yourself.

M842 chainsaw wont start when hot

I suspect your warm start procedure is the fault, the manual is not correct IMO. Any choke on a warm engine causes flooding, try this, if no better post back or return it for warranty replacement.

Start Procedure
Cold:
  1. Ignition on/off to on.
  2. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
  3. Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws); pull starter and listen for an attempt to start. once heard (usually two pulls; no more than 4).
  4. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
  5. Push (open) choke pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull).
Warm:
  1. Ignition on/off to on.
  2. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
  3. Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws) – Do not pull with choke closed.
  4. Push (open) choke, pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull).
If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. Thank you for using FixYa and Good Luck. HTH

Im having problems starting an MS250 Stihl chainsaw. Can you give

Chances are good that the compression is not to blame. I would look at:
1. Bad Fuel
2. Fuel Line/filter
3. Carb dirty/mis adjusted
3. Spark Plug
4. Ignition

Blowing out gas at the start. Drained and filled with fresh gas mixture. Cleaned spark plug and srayed carb cleaner in hole. Pull choke pull cord , blowing gas out of carb. Stuck float? Buy carb kit from...

No floats in chainsaw carbs. Severly flooded most common start problem with chainsaws. Read and follow the start procedure in your manual. Don't use choke on flooded engine (may set fast idle, set then turn off)!
