Question about Computers & Internet
To reinstall the Operating System? (Examples: Windows XP or Windows Vista) If you have the Full Installation Disk, and the computer plugged into power and turned on, insert it in the CD/DVD drive. Close the CD/DVD drive.
If the disk does not automatically start up, press the CTRL, ALT, and Delete keys AT THE SAME TIME.
This will restart your computer. When the computer manufacturer logo comes up, look VERY closely at the bottom of your monitor screen. You are looking for the key on your keyboard to press, that will let you enter the BIOS Setup. (Older computers its stated as -> Enter CMOS Setup)
It may state -> enter Setup. Or it may state -> Change Setup. Or something similar.
This screen goes by VERY fast. You may have to restart the computer a few times to see it. Write it down.
Once you see the key you need, be ready to start tapping this key in two second intervals, right after you restart the computer again.
When you are in BIOS Setup, look for the Boot Options menu, and enter it. Change the first boot device to CDROM. Be sure to press the F10 key when you have made this change, press the -> Y key, and then press the Enter key.
Your computer will now restart, and boot from the Full Installation Disk you have in the CD/DVD drive.
You can also go to your computer manufacturers website, look for -> Support, and click on it. In the search box on this page, type your computer model name, and model number. On this page look for Contact Us. (HP is Contact HP)
Email them, or call them and tell them you need the Restoration Disk. Some call it the Recovery Disk, or System Recovery Disk.
When you get the disk, put it in your CD/DVD drive tray, close the tray. Let it load. When it aks you, I suggest you click on -> Repair, not Fresh Install.
