The camera not functioning well. On off but...

I just bought a rollei digital camcorder HD-SD 12 from Merit Digital, shop 8, G/F, Mirador Mansion, 60A, Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Hua, Kowloon, Hong Kong on 3.5.2009, i.e.during my holiday trip there recently. When I try to take the video, the screen is totally dark. I could not see the image at all. It always hang when I press the video button. I could not switch off or on. When I shoot using the camera function, although there is a flash light, no image was captured. The on and off button also jam. I could not switch off the camera. As a result the camera is always out of battery. Please help me to resolve these problems. It is really frustrating to have bought an expensive digital camcorder and yet so many problems.
