Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop

1 Answer

Windows boot manager file: /boot/bcd status: oxcoooooe9 info: an unexpected I/o error has occurred I am experiencing the same problem on a Dell laptop (Inspiron 1525: Windows boot manager - file: /boot/bcd - status: oxcoooooe9 - info: an unexpected I/o error has occurred). I cannot repair or reinstall the OS (Vista Home Premium). The posted solution is not helpful because the status error in the solution is 0xc0000034 instead of 0xc00000e9 and the info is different also. I cannot get to any of the options mentioned in the solution (no operating system is detected) After running diagnostics on the machine it looks like there is a problem with the hard drive.

Is the computer still under warranty? If it is, you can contact Dell and they will send you a replacement drive. Then you will need to use the recovery CDs that came with the computer to reinstall the OS. It will be just as it was when new. If there is now warranty, you will need to buy a hard drive and then use the recovery CDs.

Do you have access to another computer with internet access and a CD burner? If you do, go tohttp://www.puppylinux.org/ and download version 4.12 (94 MB). It will be an .iso file that you can burn to a CD. Put the disc in the laptop and start it. It will boot Puppy linux into the memory of the laptop. Once that is running, you will be able to access the hard drive in the laptop and copy everything that you would like to save to a USB drive. Once the data is backed up you will replace the drive and use the recovery CDs to install the OS and get it back to when it was new.

I have used this method a few of times for myself and for folks like you who are in trouble.

Good luck, and let me know if you neead any further assistance when you get this far.

Try check your hard disk with the other machine. Try running hard disk diagnostic test. If there's a problem with diagnostic test i suspect your hard disk is faulty. If you tried connecting with other machine then same problem, suspected also hard disk faulty. You might need to change it.

My sistam is not restore ... WHY???

This error code usually points to an installation of windows that has been corrupted. I'm assuming that you have no USB flash drives plugged into the laptop when booting, if so, remove these and try a reboot.
Then try to boot to safe mode (f8)
If this fails, boot from the CD drive by setting the DC boot option as 1st boot in the bios, put the windows installtion CD in the drive and go through the install proceedure, selecting the REPAIR option.
If this fails, you will need to reinstall windows.
To recover any lost files, after reinstalling windows, download a utility such as recover my files and set it to a format recovery to get any lost files back.

Have a acer aspire one and i got this file\boot\bcd status; 0xc00000eg info : an unexpected i/o error has occurred

If you have backup disks with your data on and a recovery disk, now is the time to use it, otherwise, press F8 as it boots and select Safe Mode. Run CHKDSK/F and hope that it can repair the errors. If it does, close the computer down and re boot as normal.
Hope that helps.
