Question about Maytag Refrigerators

MFI2266AEW icemaker removal

I have looked at many sites showing a generic icemaker replacement process. My icemaker is different that any of those shown. The replacement part I purchased from Amazon is different, for one it has no rocker switch type shutoff. I would like to remove the existing unit, and can see that it has a plastic tab at the front that holds it into the housing, but can't see the other attachment point. I am hoping for advice on removing and diagnosing the problem before deciding if I need to call a repair tech.

You have to replace that rocker switch in the new style ice maker they send you. There should be a spot for it. That ice maker is tricky to uninstall. Theres a plastic cover in the bottom left hand corner of that cavity. You need a flat head and stick it in the one hole it has to release a tab, then that whole assembly including the fan come out after you disconnect a few connectors.. This is the ice maker with that vent underneath of the ice maker, if I'm correct. This is a rather difficult repair, but if you manage to get the old ice maker out, you can work on the whole assembly on a counter and the disassemble will be a lot easier.

SOURCE: 650 refrigerator door light switch

Go to Sub and click the showroom locator on the top left of the screen. This will take you to a locator to find the authorized parts distributor for your area I beleive the part number is 3060140 . Once you have the part remove the three phillips head screws that hold the grill in place this is assuming you don't have the louvered grill. There is a grey power cord with a white quick connect seperate this or turn the power off at the circuit breaker. You will be working on live electricity if you don't.Not good for yu life expectancy. There is one more phillips head screw for the cover of the two switches. The light switch has a white back and the fan switch has a black one. Remove the two wires then push it down and slip the new one in. Replace all that you took off. While you have the grill off vacuum the condensor.

SOURCE: how do I remove the icemaker trim on the frontof

Use a very thin flat head screwdriver and slide it under the door and the edge of the plastic cover gently pry until you can grab it with your fingers and pull , start at the bottom first the panel will pop all the way off and then there is usually a harness cable to detach.

Yes they can. Just open the doors and you will see screws that hold the hinges. I believe that there are 4 per corner.

My maytag mfi2568aeb french door bottom freezer has ice on coils in freezer and ice maker wont make ice

Sounds like the icemaker drain is clogged and the fill process overflowed the unit. the water then froze the drain and all overflowed water from icemaker. Remove icemaker and remove all ice from freezer and icemaker. Clean all drains. Reinstall.

My icemake does not make ice

It sounds like it is time to replace your icemaker. It is not requesting water and it is not going to restart once it fails. The part number is 2198597 and it is about 130 dollars. You can try to look around for a cheaper price but don't buy a generic unit. You will regret it.

My u line icemaker was freezing water but my iemaker was not working. I just installed a used icemaker, now the compressor and fan work, but no cool. compresor conections dont show leaks, compressor gets...

If the compressor and fan are both running and no cool then you have a sealed system issue. If you just replaced the icemaker assembly and it freezes but doesnt dump then you might have the wrong icemaker or a bad thermostat.

Replacing icemaker in GE GSH25JSTE side by side refrigerator.

generally its very easy. for your model it looks like the icemaker goes across the rear of the freezer section. if you will look on the left hand wall on the icemaker you will see a philips head screw remove this screw and pull the icemaker towards you and it will come out then unplug the wiring harness (this is probably the hardest part) there are 2 clips that keep the harness connected securley and you sometimes have to use a small blade screw driver to release them. onec icemaker is removed you have to remove the fill cup and the end stop off of the icemaker and reinstall on the new icemaker. one done just reinstall and turn it on. youre done!! BTW the new icemaker mostlikely will not have the green light the old one did so dont think youve got the wrong icemaker.. let me know if you need any further help Thanks Peyton

Ice tray overflow

Sorry for taking so long to answer.  The icemaker needs to be removed from it's mount to install the updated tray.  There should be only one screw on the front of the bracket supporting the icemaker.  Once the screw is removed, slide the entire icemaker assembly forward and drop it down.  This will expose the wire harness connection.  Disconnect the plug from the connector and take the icemaker out to work on it.  You need to remove the motor part of the icemaker from the bracket to replace the tray.  Carefully push the bracket up as you push the motor box down and slide foward to separate the two.  It looks impossible but it actually does come apart easily.  Once the box is separated, the tray can be replaced.  Reverse the process to assemble.  Good luck.
