Got fuel to filter but not to the back of heater what could be going wrong

It could be a plugged filter or fuel line. I'm assuming this is an oil furnace.

Thermoheat dtu torpedo heater reads E1 error


These are some possible causes:
1. Wrong pump pressure
2. Dirty Air Output,Air Intake or Lint Filter.
3. Dirty Fuel Filter.
4. Dirt in Nozzle.
5. Dirty Photocell Lens.
6. Photocell Assembly not
Properly installed.(Not seeing the flame)
7. Bad electrical connection between photocell and MAIN PCB assembly.
8. Defective Photocell.

If all those check out ok, then check these:
1. No fuel in tank.
2. Wrong pump pressure.
3. Carbon deposits on spark plug and/or improper gap.
4. Dirty fuel filter.
5. Dirt in Nozzle.
6. Water in fuel tank.
7. Bad electrical connection between ignitor and MAIN PCB assembly.
8. Ignitor wire is not attached to spark plug.

I have a 100,000btu torpedo type heater/it will not run unless i block air intake about 80%. What is wrong??


the heater should fire up within seconds of plugging in and turning on.. if not check for alignment of igniter with the spray of fuel ..there is a safety issue with these if they dont fire up almost imediately..realign the igniter into the back of the fuel spray and make sure it works within 1-3 seconds..otherwise you will get fumes instead and a blowup is likely..do this outdoors so in case there is an issue it dont set anything on fire...be careful..

Just installed a vulcan oil heater, but when you start it up it will only burn yellow flames and keeps going out and will smoke, then relight with a bang,


Sounds like you may have the wrong size tip on your oil burner. A yellow flame indicates too much fuel not enough oxygen.

In order to find the fuel and air filters you must first remove the top section of the heater tube, this is done by removing the six to eight 5/16" hex headed screws. Now once the top section has been removed you will have access to the fuel lines, they vary in length as to where they go so a simple measurement takes care of that situation. Filters are as follows, the air filter is at the back of the heater assembly, it is usually a foam filter and it is in the air pump ( black plastic pump). Then there are actually two different fuel filters, first one is a screen filter just behind the fuel nozzle. You have to remove the fuel nozzle and there is the screen filter, while you have the nozzle out you can clean it by using a blow gun and compressor to blow air thru the nozzle and make sure there is no blockages. The second is located under the side cover, so trace your fuel line down to where it comes thru the heater tube and again remove the 5/16" hex head screws to expose the fuel line. Now some have the filter right there in plain sight and some depending upon the year have it in a grommet in the fuel tank top.Again remove it and I clean it the same way with compressed air blowing backwards thru it as well. Make sure that you have tight fits on all fuel and air lines, make sure the nozzle is clean ,the screen filter is clean, and put the nozzle assembly back together. be careful not to damage the nozzle.While you have the heater down make sure to clean the flame sensor, for this I use windex and a soft terry cloth rag. Put the heater tube back together and you are ready to test.

100,000 btu reddy heater runs but smokes alot and you can smell raw fuel what's wrong


It sounds like the fuel is contaminated,if it is not k 1 kerosene ,or grade A diesel fuel,this could be the problem,clean the tank,and start with a k 1 kerosene,and see if it clears up,then go back to the grade A diesel fuel,if this does not work,replace the filter in the tank,and check the intake air filter,make sure it is not cloded up,or behind the filter,last thing ,only after checking and doing all of this,the pump pressure may need adjusting,but do not try this with out a pressure gauge,and a manual .You can break the pump easy.I have a manual for the ready heater,just let me no if you need it,please rate,thank yopu,> roniecon@gmail.com

Fan kicks on and heater will not ignite


Remove the top of the heater and turn it on. Look for the igniter to start sparking if it uses the spark plug type igniter or if it uses a HSI type, look for it to start glowing. Next, use a flashlight to look for fuel spraying out of the nozzle. If it isn't check the nozzle for a clog. Check the fuel filter. Remove the filter cover on the back of the motor and check the air filter. If this doesn't get the fuel going you will need to get a pressure guage to screw into the left hole in the filter cover and check the air pressure going to the fuel nozzle. It should ~3.5#. You can adjust it by turning the adjusting screw in the other hole in the filter cover. That plug should have a hole in it.

There are several things that you can do to this heater and I have made it a yearly practice to pull this preventative maintenance. Here we go, remove the top section of the heater tube this exposes all of the internal workings of the heater. Locate the burner tray, on the front is a brass nozzle which they say you can not clean. I say with carb cleaner a q-tip and tooth pick you can, in behind the nozzle a screen assembly clean this too they like to corrode. Put the nozzle assembly back together and inspect all fuel lines for cracks, holes,and dry rot replace if necessary. At the bottom of the burner tray there is a round item, this is your flame sensor. These are known to collect carbon deposits, dirt, and occasional homeless insect, clean it with windex and a soft terry cloth rag. Now put the burner tray back in the heater. Trace the fuel lines down to where they come thru the case, remove the side panel cover here is where you will find the fuel line and an in line filter. Remove the fuel filter and I use a compressor and blow gun to clean these, simply blow air backwards thru the filter and instantly it's clean. Inspect those lines again if all is good put filter and lines back together and replace the side cover. on the back of the fuel pump is a foam rubber air filter, wash it out I use dawn dish soap, but dry it real good then put it back in. Now replace the top and I want you to open the fuel tank and tilt your heater towards the fuel opening, you are looking to see if there is water from condensation while being stored. If there is empty the tank in to a five gallon bucket, oil is lighter than water so fuel floats to the top. You can either throw it out and dry out your fuel tank or siphon off the fuel and reuse it, just be careful not to get any of the water. Now you are ready to test your heater.Plug it in and you should be up and running like new again.Good luck

I have ready heater 150, 000 btu, the fan is blowing strong and there is constant fire comeing from sparkplug , but its not igniting. What could be wrong.


No fuel!! Several things can cause this, empty fuel tank, dirty fuel filter, plugged screen in the nozzle assembly,or plugged nozzle. So lets clean up the fuel system by first removing the top section of the heater and exposing the burner tray. Remove the tray and locate the fuel nozzle, remove the nozzle, now they say you can not clean them, I say with a q-tip, tooth pick and carb cleaner you can just be careful not to damage the nozzle. Behind the nozzle is a screen assembly these corrode at times so clean it up too. Below the nozzle assembly is the flame sensor, clean this with windex and a soft terry cloth rag, make sure it will have a clear unobstructed view of the flame.Put the nozzle assembly back together, and now inspect the fuel line for cracks, holes,and dry rot replace if necessary. Trace the lines down to the side where they come thru the case. Remove the side cover and locate the fuel line and in line filter, remove the filter. Cleaning this is easy you need a compressor and blow gun, all you do is blow air backwards thru the filter and instantly its clean. Inspect fuel lines and reassemble. Now make sure that you have clean fuel in your tank, and there is no water in it as well.Plug it in and you should now be heating like new. If not it could be your fuel pump!

Heater runs but no flame


Check the air filters and the fuel filter. Also check the fuel nozzle for blockage. To access the air filters, remove the black cover on the back of the fan motor. You can see it from the rear of the heater. To get to the fuel filter, remove the small cover on the left side (looking from the back to the front of the heater) of the heater. The filter should be just on top of the tank. If not it will be in the tank.

I have a Reddy Heater 70,000BTU without a thermostat. It will flare off and within a few seconds the fire goes out and then the it trips out. After a few tries it won't even flare off. What might be wrong?


hello. Your reddy heater is dirty and needs a good cleaning. Also, here are a few other possible reasons why it won't operate properly. Pressure not adjusted to 5.1 psi, dirty outlet filter, clogged inlet filter, bad or dirty photo cell, defective reset switch, pump going bad, dirty injector nozzle, dirty fuel filter, contaminated fuel. Check yours out and do what you can to address each area of concern. Regards, Joe
