Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC
Ok so this computer was given to me and its faster then my other Emachine so I've decided to use it instead. The Specs are; Intel® Pentium® D Processor 805 (dual-core) (2.66GHz, 533MHz FSB, 2 x 1MB L2 cache), ATI Radeon™ Xpress 200 (Chipset), 1024MB DDR2 (2 × 512MB), 533MHz (PC4200) Expandable to 2GB, which when I got it there was no ram in it, ATI Radeon™ Xpress 200 integrated graphics (which I have disabled beacuse I have a PCI-E Geforce 8400GT 512MB). So I put in both the ram sticks I had in my old computer which are both 1GB Kingston DDR2(4200) 1.8v, the only differnce is the one stick of ram is the newer skinny version. So at first I thought it had a bad ram slot so I switched them both around and both sots work, but if I put them both in it decides it wants to use Slot A instead of slot B...go figure. So I thought maybe the bios needed updated...so I went to the Emachines website downloaded and flashed with the lateset bios version....still did not work....soo I went to the Intel website and flashed the bios with theirs...did not work either....although now it sees the Ram in slot B instead of Slot A...lmao....I think I am going to try buying a Dual Channel kit and see if that works... but if anyone has any ideas...please let me know... thanx.
Did you get this problem fixed? I have the T5212 (which I really like) but want to upgrade the RAM prior to Internet 7, just in case

Check the e-machine website for its frequently asked questions and troubleshooting sections on you make and model of computer. Someone may have had the same problem and had a answer posted. Also check for the types of memory recommended for use in you model, check this list out with the type you are using. IF all that fails purchase a recommended memory pair and see if they work. If not you may indeed have some problem with the memory slots. Try cleaning the slots with spray on instant dry contact cleaner and a small brush like a toothbrush or horse hair brush. See if this improves the connections enough to let the unit use both memory sticks.Hope this helps you with your problem.
