Maybe, depending on the problem. Laptop monitor problems fall into three categories. 1. Screen electronics or lamp. 2. Inverter. 3. Laptop video chip. I've been repairing latops ever since they arrived on the market. First connect an external monitor to the laptop - this will show you whether or not the laptop motherboard is working correctly. If it is then you'll need to replace either the screen or the inverter.
