The speed of my laptop when it starts take longer then the desired time....!!! config of my laptop: dell-1545 3 gb ram 320 hd vista home basic

  • Hi, go to the Control Panel, In the Programs category, select the "Change the Startup Programs, only start essential programs at "Boot-Up," you can "stop certain "Services," and "Processes in the (Task Manager) from running during start-up aswell. You may need to "Backup Files, and do a Defragmentation of the HardDrive, open the Computer from the Desktop, select Properties, choose the (Tools), you can use "Clean-up Disk" to make more "Space," all of these will improve the perform, and speed-up the "System." If the solution helped, "rating it is appreciated, thanks."

My laptop is still new but the performance is super slow is there any truely free way to fix it

Yes there is,

do a google search for "windows speed secrets" it is a free 25 page manual with visual directions on several processes you can use to speed up your PC. I do NOT recommend using the softwares they suggest, but the other speed tuning tip from within XP and Vista are great. I recommend this pamphlet to many of my clients.

I also recommend AVAST! for an AV product, as it has a small enough footprint to not effect gaming on my gaming PC, and not effect performance on my netbook.

If you need anythin else let me know I CAN solve this problem.

Vista has a slover speed of processing and uses a lot RAM why?

Vista is more graphics-intensive out of the box. If you go to Control Panel, then to Performance Information and Tools, you can get an idea of what your PC is capable of, and adjust it to your liking (or just click "Adjust for best performance"). I suggest starting with "Adjust visual effects" on the left, turn them all down. Indexing can eat up RAM too, but be warned that if you turn that off it will take your computer longer to find files.

Acer Travelmate 290 model CL 51 How much Ram can I put in and continue to see a marked improvement in speed? It has 500 MB at the moment.

What operating system are you running?

If it is Windows XP you can go up to 4GB. More with Vista.

However 2 GB should be sufficient and you will notice a spike in performance and load times.

How to increase downloading speed

Hi jayvee024,

Thanks for asking me to be your Tech Buddy.

Download speed of course is a function of your connection speed.

Additionally, you can try using a Download Manager such as FlashGet.

Incidentally, you can try tweaking your OS and Connection Settings to improve the overall performance of your PC. Doing so would automatically improve also certain portions of your connection speed.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
