The FPS in your games is primarily controlled by your graphics card. The better the card the better the fps. To get the best possible fps in gaming you should be using a good quality card like the NVidia GTX 260 card or better or an ATI Radeon 4870 or better. If you have the money you might want to upgrade. If not try turning off all but your essential background processes & see if that helps. Good luck.

How can i use the motion eye camera to capture picture? only video recording is the one i can use.. please help..Thanks

Frame rate is also a term used in real-time computing. In a fashion somewhat comparable to the moving-picture definition presented above, a real-time frame is the time it takes to complete a full round of the system's processing tasks. If the frame rate of a real-time system is 60 hertz, the system reevaluates all necessary inputs and updates the necessary outputs 60 times per second under all circumstances.
Owing to their flexibility, software-based video formats can specify arbitrarily high frame rates, and many (cathode ray tube) consumer PC monitors operate at hundreds of frames per second, depending on the selected video mode. LCD screens are usually 24, 25, 50, 60, or 120 FPS.
The designed frame rates of real-time systems vary depending on the equipment. For a real-time system that is steering an oil tanker, a frame rate of 1 FPS may be sufficient, while a rate of even 100 FPS may not be adequate for steering a guided missile. The designer must choose a frame rate appropriate to the application's requirements.

I have got acer aspire 4736 laptop with (Intel® GMA 4500MHD) graphic card. It doesn't support many latest games and also the game that it supports sucks playing on it. Is there any USB graphic card...

There is no solution for this unfortunately. USB video adapters are, at best, only good for presentations and image work.

The Intel GMA 4500MHD has no integrated memory of its own so it share's what memory is available from RAM installed. You can try to increase the amount of memory installed which, in effect, would provide a bit more system memory for other functions, while allowing the GMA 4500 to hold on to what it needs.

The down side is that the GMA 4500MHD just isn't what you need to play with high-end game graphics. Minimal settings will generate ok frames per second but you will be limited to playing pre-2006 games if you want to get anywhere near even 30 fps.

In other words, this graphics adapter isn't desired in playing games. It's useful only in a pinch and only if frame per second count doesn't matter.

I have a problem with fps. When i bought my acer 5315,the fps was good when i played games, but suddenly the fps dropped to 2-8. I have tried updating all the drivers and stuff and dont know what to do

Games always need RAM and Graphics cards to keep the frames from stuttering.Your Acer
Manufacturer: Acer Product MPN MPN Aspire 5315-2153 Key Features Processor dtrquestion.gif Celeron M 1.73 GHz Hard Drive dtrquestion.gif 80 GB Serial ATA Display 15.4 in. WXGA+ TFT Active Matrix Processor Processor Type dtrquestion.gif Celeron M Processor Speed dtrquestion.gif 1.73 GHz Memory Installed RAM 1 GB
is low on both.Win XP x32 likes 3GB of RAM and Vista wants even more. The Frames Per Second is purely a Graphics Processor Hog.
This is from Fixya website;
http://www.fixya.com/support/t1531241-acer_5315_series_laptop_get_better
Your graphics card "is" built in and cannot be upgraded. The latest drivers "from Intel" is your only option for an upgrade. To be less graphics intense decrease your screen resolution by right clicking your "desktop" and clicking "properties" then "settings".Move the pointer left one click "screen resolution".The screen will jump around a bit while it's resetting, hit "apply" and "ok".The resolution will now be less but your game will speed up-some-ultimately this laptop is not built for fast paced games.Sorry bout the news, take care!

Server busy, close the window and try again later

Yahoo software is not noted for its generosity regarding webcams
You need to track what is happening during transmission. From the webcam frame menu click 'webcam' click 'statistics' from here you can see your frames per second. Do a few tests while broadcasting adjusting the slider (click 'file' click 'preferences') to improve quality ( at the expense of speed). If the fps drops to 0.0 your picture will be frozen.
You can also adjust your camera settings from here
Depending on your resources - internet speed - memory etc, will dictate the fps. The object of the exercise is to achieve maximum quality with a reasonable fps. Personally, I found the fps very erratic and about 0.0 to 3.0 with later mods the highest I could achieve was a modest 0.0 to 6.0 you may do better.
carry out the Yahoo mod to the registry
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/webcam/mstacamfix.html
Download the microsoft software
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/webcam/mstatestcamie.html
The webcam should now be controlled by VFM ( seen at the bottom of the statistics window)
Finally do your tests again, I transmit my image as 'small' ( 'webcam' > 'image size' ) and the contacts use 'Zoom' > '200%' to restore. this is to preserve what little resources I have.

Refresh rates on flat crt moniter

The refresh rate (most commonly the "vertical refresh rate", "vertical scan rate" for CRTs) is the number of times in a second that display hardware draws the data it is being given. This is distinct from the measure of frame rate in that the refresh rate includes the repeated drawing of identical frames, while frame rate measures how a video source can feed an entire frame of new data to a display.
For example, most movie projectors advance from one frame to the next one 24 times each second. But each frame is illuminated two or three times before the next frame is projected using a shutter in front of its lamp. As a result, the movie projector runs at 24 frames per second, but has a 48 or 72 Hz refresh rate.
On CRT displays, increasing the refresh rate decreases flickering, thereby reducing eye strain. However, if a refresh rate is specified that is beyond what is recommended for the display, damage to the display can occur.

Frame rates are considered important in video games. The frame rate can make the difference between a game that is playable and one that is not. The first 3D first-person adventure game for a personal computer, 3D Monster Maze, had a frame rate of approximately 6 frame/s, and was still a success. In modern action-oriented games where players must visually track animated objects and react quickly, frame rates of between 30 to 60 frame/s are considered minimally acceptable by some, though this can vary significantly from game to game. Most modern action games, including popular first person shooters such as Halo 3, run around 30 frames a second, while others, such as Unreal Tournament 3, run at 60 frames a second. The framerate within games, particularly PC games, typically varies with the hardware configuraton, and depending upon what is currently happening in the game at a given moment. When the production of a frame makes large demands on the CPU and / or GPU, the framerate falls.
A culture of competition has arisen among game enthusiasts with regards to frame rates, with players striving to obtain the highest frame/s count possible. Indeed, many benchmarks (such as 3DMark) released by the marketing departments of hardware manufacturers and published in hardware reviews focus on the frame/s measurement. Modern video cards, often featuring NVIDIA or ATI chipsets, can perform at over 160 frame/s on graphics intensive games such as F.E.A.R. One single GeForce 8800 GTX has been reported to play F.E.A.R. at up to 386 frame/s (at a low resolution).[citation needed] This does not apply to all games: some games apply a limit on the frame rate. For example, in the Grand Theft Auto series, Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City have a standard 30 frame/s (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas runs at 25 frame/s) and this limit can only be removed at the cost of graphical and gameplay stability. It is also doubtful whether striving for such high frame rates is worthwhile. A regular CRT monitor (somewhat outdated now) runs at up to 85 hertz, meaning that any performance reached by the game over 85 frame/s is discarded. For that reason it is not uncommon to limit the frame rate to the refresh rate of the monitor in a process called vertical synchronization. However, many players feel that not synchronizing every frame produces sufficiently better game execution to justify some "tearing" of the images.

In conclusion: If you want better experience in games you must upgrade your videocard.

LCD and Gaming

Monitor should not have anything to do with frame rate.

If you have increased the resolution of your video card because the 19" is larger than what you had before, that could cause a frame rate issue.

Something else got installed, that is slowing down your machine...

Coincidence...

Connect the old monitor and what is the outcome? Does the frame rate improve again?
