49.4c02 problem.

A 49 error is a corrupt print job. Delete your pending print job then reboot the printer. OR unplug the network cable, reboot printer, it will say Ready. Do not plug in network cable otherwise you will get 49 error. Plug in USB cable, download Firmware upgrade from HP.COM, then plug network cable back in and watch as the previously corrupted print jobs translate fine and print print print ;)

Failed response from plugin device

Dirty fix...
When the printer errors out...stop, unplug the power to the printserver. Reset the printer, Clear the print que (delete jobs/restart print spooling service), restart the printserver software and plug the printserver power back in. Wait for the re-detect. Everthing should be good at this point. Unfortunatly the print job will be lost and you need to print again...BUT, NO REBOOT yea!!!
Note... for me, if this sequence is not followed, I will have to reboot. The printserver will be locked for the PC that was trying to print. All other PC's will be fine, and I have no idea why.
Good luck,
Bill

I tried to default printer because, it showed printing 18 pages and I did not want it to print all now it is stuck with 1page 1/4of the page sticking out of the printer. What should I do ??

Cancel all of the print jobs in the queue.
Open the printer, highlight the print jobs, right click and choose "Cancel"
Then turn the printer off, reboot your computer, turn the printer back on while the computer is rebooting.
That reset the entire printing process.

Cannot print unless I turn off computer and then reboot.

I'm not a big fan of Lexmark in general in part due to their software and drivers. For me this type of behavior from their printers/software became common about a year ago, the fix being to use the more generic Windows supplied printer drivers. I would suggest that you uninstall all software the printer installed and remove all of the printers print queue(s)including any associated with the fax function. Unplug the printer USB cable from the computer, reboot your PC and reinstall the printer from scratch using your original installatin CD.
