Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook

Dell Inspiron 6000 PC Notebook System 32 Corrupted. It didn't come with a recovery disk so I tried to use my desk top Windows XP Home Edition to recover but it didn't work. When I start up the laptop it asks me to "Please select the operating system to start: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Microsoft Windows XP Setup Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice. Press ENTER to choose. For troubleshooting and advanced startup options for Windows, press F8. If I choose Home Edition, it takes me to the Windows XP Home edition but none of my drivers works and I can't connect to the internet and I don't want to have to change this at startup every time I try to use the laptop. If I choose Microsoft Windows XP Setup, it takes me to another DOS type screen and prompts me for commands which I don't know. Can anyone help?

You have gone into XP's backup and restore and reset your dell to a previous point right http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490854.aspx ?and if it was this way the first time you booted up it might have been installed wrong and it will need to be manualy serviced unfortunately most companies don't give restore disks any more, if your dell came from a retailer and it is still under 3 month the store should reinstall xp for you and if it isn't the store still might do it, dell might also offer a mail in fix for ya, if that doesn't work you can always go to best buy's geek squad and when you get it fixed make sure to make a backup disk using windows backup and restore, vista has software to use to make a back up disk i dont know about XP
geek squad or dell might haveto do that for you but it could cost you

What is happening is that it(computer) is confused, it had one of the WIN XPs and now Another. we fix
START->RUN->TYPE IN->MSCONFIG->OK->BOOT INI TAB->CHECK ALL BOOT PATHS-> AND SAY YES OR OK...AND IT WILL FIX IT THAT YOU'LL NOT SEE THAT AGAIN.
Now as far a all the drivers are not working you must go to the dell site type in your service code number , and that will help you select the driver you need for your particular computer. I know you mentioned that you can't get on line so here is what you do, Have some one download the drivers you need to desktop on their computer, burn a CD or grab a jump drive, copy them, bring them to you computer. Really all you would need is the Network controllers and Network Driver and that would enable you to get on line and download the rest of the drivers you require. Any way here is the site:

Whenever i format one of my computers, when it gets to the point where you format, i format once with the normal ntfs and then right after it finishes i turn it off by holding down the power button until it shuts and then when i get back to the point where it asks about formatting again i do ntfs quick. i do all this because i had the same problem before and this is how i got past it. now the drivers. did you go to dell and download all of the drivers for your computer? whenver you format you need to get all the drivers again. i will usually use another compter to get the wireless network driver first if it has it so i can install that and then put it on a flash drive or something to get it on the other computer and install that so i can download the rest after that

SOURCE: Screen on Dell Inspiron 6000 turned sideways. How

Power off the laptop.
Power it on and tap F2 at the Dell logo. check if the screen is sidways in the BIOS or not. If it looks normal in the BIOS restart the computer and go to control panel and uninstall the Video drivers. Restart the computer. It will boot up with basic drivers. Install the video drivers and the issue should be fixed.
If the display is side ways even in the BIOS try a BIOS update from support.dell.com and if you dont have an update reflash the BIOS with teh version availbale on the website.

A disk error has occured press ctrl+alt+del to restart --continuous loop---

The windows files are corrupted or the hard drive is defective. If you have the original recovery disc try reloading the operational system, if this fails the hard drive is probably bad and will need to be replaced. But! as a last resort, pull the hardware out and re-seat it back in "it just might work"

Possess dell inspiron 6000 centino wireless, need drivers and xp

You can contact Dell Technical Support and see if they will send you a new XP CD. All the drivers can be downloaded at Support.dell.com for that system. If you can't get Dell to replace the CD, try Ebay. Here is an Example:

Boot manager compressed wont start windows, keeps aking me to restart

Hello,

You have corrupted boot loader manager so in order to restore the corrupted boot loader you have either to reinstall your operating system or repair it. To do the two recovery process you have to insert your CD Windows XP Installer then let the CD Boot and then follow the steps given by the computer installation wizard and t will guide you along the way to finished.
Note: Don't forget to back up first your data save in your hard disk particularly the data stored in your boot Disk partition.

Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop won't boot up

Hi,
Pleae reboot your system and when you see the Dell logo , press the F12 key a couple of times .
In the menu, select only HDD diagnostics and post the results back . If the harddrive fails, then the only solution would be to replace the same. If the hardrive passes , we may be able tp fix the system

Thanks

This sounds like the hard drive is failing. At this point you will need to run a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, then reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system. If you have any issues during or after the format or install, then the hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced.

How can I get rid of Dreaded blue screen of death?

If you have 2 memory sticks in system, remove one and try it. If you have the green recovery disk that dell sends with their systems, place in drive and have it boot. Select "R" for repair drive. Then select "1" then enter your admin password. If you did not place one on system, just hit enter. Then at the
C:\WinNT directory, type chkdsk /r then hit enter, and have chkdsk look for drive errors.
