There should be a pusher that is attached to a spring. If the spring broke, or the pusher is missing the staples will not stay in place.
If you can locate a model number on the tool, you go to bostitch.com to find the parts you may need

Hello. Begin by disconnecting the air hose. That way you can not get hurt while removing the jam. Get a pair of needle nosed pliers and remove each of the jammed staples. They will pull out I assure you. Then Use a little WD-40 or compressor oil to lubricate the working mechanism at the firing head. IF you must loosen up the mechanism to remove all of the staple parts be sure to use the correct size allen wrench. I am providing link to a free manual for your gun in case you don't have one: http://bostitch.com/catalog_images/web_pdf/107674.pdf

The spring in the magazine is not stiff enough to feed the staples as fast as the spring pushes the driver forward. This is a design flaw and the ONLY thing that has worked for me so far is to put 1 & 1/3 sticks of staples into the gun. This puts more pressure on the spring in the magazine and forces the column to feed faster. It's only good for about 10 - 15 shots, but it's better than nothing. I am currently seeking a more rigid spring that will fit around the rod to fix this problem. Will post as soon as I have a more permanent solution.

I sure hate doing this but one of our experts wire12me did all the research on this and his post is here:
Here is the graphic from hi shard work:
I tired to pull up the same graphic from the stanley, dewalt and black and decker sites with out any success.
The ACE 2064673 model is the same as the stanley model TRE550
The instructions in the first link above thanks to wire12me should get you going. Please at the bottom of his post click yes this was helpful. He deserves the credit.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
