SOURCE: Acer aspire laptop won't charge

Hi,
First of all you have to determine whether it's the battery, charger or the laptop itself.
Remove the battery and boot the laptop on AC power only, if the laptop boots up you can rule out the charger and the laptop, you may need a new battery if that is the case.

Regards.

SOURCE: 3 bleeps when i boot up acer aspire 9300

Service guide states that it is searching for option ROMs, and that it is a checksum failure.

In order to understand what a checksum error is, it is important that you first learn what a checksum is. A checksum is a redundancy check during the startup process of a computer, which makes sure that a computer's data is intact. The data is scanned and tested for accuracy, either based on how well it relates to data elsewhere or based on previous data that was stored on the same computer. Essentially, all of the bits of data in a particular document or file are added up and a number or hash is created. This number or hash can then be compared to the number or hash generated from the same file on another person's computer or at a previous time on the same computer.

Although a checksum error can occur at any time while a computer is comparing data, it is most commonly present during a computer's startup procedure. During the startup processes of a computer, the BIOS settings, which are stored in a CMOS memory chip, are computed and then checked against the previous value. If the computed values do not match exactly, the computer warns the user with a checksum error message that the data may have been changed or corrupted between startup cycles. All BIOSes present a different error and therefore will either continue with booting or refuse to boot until the problem is corrected.
Depending on the type and the severity of the error generated, there may be one of a variety of ways to rectify the issue. The most common cause of a checksum error during the startup process is due to a faulty battery which is not providing sufficient power to the motherboard when the computer is off. However, motherboard malfunctions and viruses can also contribute to checksum errors.

SOURCE: my laptop charger wont charge the laptop and is

I have an A-135-S5900. This could be one of two problems. Number one would be the power cord has gone bad and you need a replacement. Walmart sells the universal type that has several different fittings with it for different laqptops. Number two would be the power cord connection on the laptop has broken loose from the motherboard. When you plug the power cord into the laptop, does it wiggle and feel loose? If it does, this is probably the problem. This one is fixable but you have to know what you're doing. Hope this helps.

It is a sign that your battery is failing. Try to remove the battery then put it back. After that, try to check if you still experience the same thing. If so, then you need a new battery replacement.

Batteries usually start to degrade after a year or after 500 charges, whichever comes first.

SOURCE: laptop screen flickering when battery charging

The power supply adapter may not be delivering enough power when you run it and trying to charge the battery at the same time. The only way to find out is sub another power supply.

Charging Conventions

  • The majority of laptops will display a solid green, blue or purple battery light to indicate that the battery is fully charged. Most manufacturers indicate that a laptop is in the process of charging by displaying a solid or blinking green, orange, blue or purple light. If your battery indicator light is green, blue or purple, the battery is probably functional, regardless of whether the light is blinking. If the light is solid orange, the laptop is probably in the process of charging.

Battery Error Coneventions

  • Many battery manufacturers use rapidly blinking lights to indicate that a battery's charge level is low. In general, a laptop will rapidly blink orange or red when its charge drops below a certain level until the computer is plugged into a power outlet and charged. If your laptop's battery indicator continues to blink rapidly in orange or red or if it remains red even when it is plugged into the charger, it indicates a problem with your battery or the charger.

Battery status incorrect

This recalibrate's the battery.

Charge the battery completely. Monitor the battery indicator, which is usually found that the bottom of your computer screen, to check if the battery is already fully charged.

Plug off the power adapter and use the laptop until the battery is completely drained. To drain the battery faster, run several programs at once and keep the contrast of your screen to its highest levels. Turn off all power-saving features as well. Turn off sleep mode.

Make sure that the battery is totally drained by waiting for your laptop to shut off or go into sleep mode automatically because of very low battery charge.

Plug the power adapter again and charge the battery again completely. Once this is done, restore the power-saving features and adjust the contract settings of your screen to normal.

Satellite M205 S4804 Problem

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

You need to contact Sony Customer Service and provide proof that you're the owner of the laptop, they may charge you a fee for the "Onetime Password", there's no other easy way but to replace the motherboard.

I have a new e627 used only once before today. Battery connection was partially out and screen indicated low battery. After five minutes screen went black and now I cannot power up.

Maybe your battery is totally drained.

Try to connect the AC adaptor of your laptop and plug it to the wall outlet and let it charge for 3 hours or more. When you plug it on the wall socket, it won't show the laptop's led blinking since it was totally drained. But after 3 minutes or more, it will start to show the blinking led to indicate charging. When blinking stops led light disappears, it is fully charged and ready to use.

Remember: Do not use your laptop while it is plugged in to save your battery life. When at home, remove the battery while it is fully charged and plug the AC adaptor directly to the wall outlet. It will still work without the battery as long as it is plugged directly to the wall socket.

This same thing keeps happening with my car. I've had the battery, alternator, alternator wore and plug changed, and the lights still keep coming on, and car keeps cutting off. I talked to someone today and they said it might be bad wiring or fuses so.... that may be it!
