Question about ViewSonic E70fb (Black) 17 in.CRT Conventional Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor (viewsonic e70fb) keeps shutting itself off

This problem just started recently and is getting worse. At first, the monitor would shut off, I would turn it back on and it would stay on. It has progressed to the point where it will only stay on a few minutes and shuts off.  And now, I have to keep turning it on and off sometimes for 10 minutes or more before it will "catch" and a picture appears. It always returns to where I was when it went off. Also, just now, the screen has begun vibrating and is very hard to read.

My monitor will run for about five-10 minutes and then it will go completely black and I have to re-start the system. Sometimes this works and other times it doesn't. I even tried new connections and it still happened.

my hp w17e monitor kepps randomly shutting off and turns back on either few seconds later or 10 minutes later. after it turns on it repaets the process. sometimes when the monitor doesn't turn back on i just press the auto, menu, or some other button and it turns back on. i knew the monitors causing the problem because i plugged in a different monitor and it works perfectly what should i do. all the wires are very tightly placed and i cleaned the monitor's from dust and other dirt with canned air spray.

The screen has begun vibrating and is very hard to read.

it sounds me that there is some sparking in power supply or high voltage section (FLYBACK) due to loose contact,

your problem of  shut off, I would turn it back on and it would stay on

.might be also due to that only.

please call tech if you are not a tech person.

it is not a major one & simple to fix.

good luck.

LCD Monitor problems.....

Acer are great products, I have had lots and all worked well.
There are no user serviceable parts on these flat panel's..
Use your warranty if available. This is why buying the extended warranty on expensive electronics is a good policy.
Find a nearby electronics repair shop and get it checked over.

Should I replace Monitor?

Your monitor is telling you that it is time for you to replace it. Your monitor is going bad on you and will only get worse.

When playing audio the monitor shuts down after a few minutes but audio still plays

The power board is probably not putting out enough power to run both the screen and the audio at the same time.
It will eventually get worse and it will not stay on at all.
The power board capacitors are probably starting to fail and need to be replaced.
The capacitors look like small cans and if they start to fail, the tops will start to bulge up.

The labor rate in the midwest where I live is $50 just to look at it. Unless you have electronic experience and test equiptment, I do not believe you wil be ableo to service it yourself.Usually cheeper just to buy another replacement one.
