SOURCE: 5 cube icemaker not working.

First make sure the icemaker fill tube isn't frozen.  Was the module broken?  If so then you need to replace the icemaker thermostat (bi metal) also.  A bad thermostat is usually what causes the module to break.  The part # is 627986 and will need alumlastic to put between thermostat and mold.  Alumilastic part # is 542369.  You can get this at http://www3.sears.com/.  You can also use silicone grease in place of alumilastic.  You need this to make a good contact between the thermostat and mold for temp. sensing.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

SOURCE: cubes won't dump into the storage bin

In photo below you can see the heating element that comes on moments before the ice maker drops the ice. If not working then the icemaker will struggle to unload. You need to unplug the refrigerator and then unpluge the ice maker and remove it to test these parts. Test with a multi meter or ohm meter. Test the 2 connections next to the number #26. Hope this helps, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: model ed22dqxaw10 - water enters the ice maker

If the water enters as if it were on a timed basis it would be clear that your ice maker either needs rebuilt or replaced. All signals are sent to the water control valve from the ice maker. The ice maker if working properly will begin its cycle when the thermostat tells the icemaker to begin by heating the elements below the ice maker to warm slightly to loosen the ice from their ice slots. After that any confusion would be in the front of the ice maker to tell the water to come on before the ice maker emptys its ice and begins a 7 second refill of water. My ice maker tube is leaking somewhere the drip pan keeps filling up and running over I have looked and I don't see any obvious dripping but I constantly have a floor full of water, unless I keep the water turned off at the valve in the basement. How do I find the leak.

Ice maker runs continuosly but no water is in the cube tray

It could be the valve. If it does not let water in, it will try to make ice and none forms so the motor keeps turning waiting for ice to form.
If the motor is turning its fine. Concentrate on how the water reaches the tray, its probably not getting there.

Model 22 Icemaker is not making ice

The following assumes that the ice trays are properly filling with water. If not, check the water control valve.

As long as the ice trays are filling with water, it's not actually the function of the ice maker to make ice. Ice simply forms because the freezer compartment is cold.

The icemaker's function is to sense when ice is formed in the trays and to dump the ice into its container.

This requires the use of a thermostat to sense the water/ice temperture and 'tell' the icemaker when it's time to dump the ice.

During the dump cycle, a heater briefly comes on as the arm swings through the ice cube compartments to assist in loosening the ice cubes and make them easy to dump.

If the icemaker is filling with water but you get no ice, I suspect that either the control circuit (thermostat, relays, and wiring) is not 'telling' the heater to come on, or the heater is burned out.

Some units also have a timer circuit such that both the timer contacts and the thermostat contacts must be close in order to initiate a dump cycle (i.e., it must be time to dump and the water in the cubicles must be frozen).

A skilled homeowner could make these repairs, but if you don't feel comfortable taking your icemaker apart and testing the components, I advise leaving the job to a qualified repairman.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Not making ice...

ok, i would start first by checking the water lines. make sure they are not frozen. if so, i would raise the temp to the factory settings.Next, i would inspect the water valve assembly. if the water valve is malfunctioning, it will not allow the water to flow in to the ice maker manifold and tray. replace the water valve if it is not functioning.

Also, make sure the on/off lever is in the on position.

Icemaker not producing ice

you need to troubleshoot the problem, if the wire arm that tells the ice maker to stop making ice when full is in the upright position the ice maker will not make ice. the problem has to be either the switch on this arm malfunction. but probably in MOST cases it is your electronic water valve which has gone out. this is located on the water supply line on the back of the fridge at the bottom probably behind some cardboard or plastic. it is the same kind of water valve as a dishwasher uses, if it malfunctions it will not deliver water to your tray, manually fill the tray and put the arm down, if the maker dispenses the ice out of the tray, chances are your electronic valve is broken.

Water leaking underneath icemaker, dripping into ice tray

Either the inlet valve is stuck or the icemaker solenoid is shored.

Most likely the first one.

Water leaking from freezer compartment and ice maker not working properly

I figured it out. When the water filter gets old and plugged up, not enough water flows into the cube trays. You can fix the ice problem by replacing or just removing the filter. (The filter really isn't necessary unless your water comes from a well or some other undesirable source.) The filters cost about $40 from Sears, but you can find them on ebay for under $30 including shipping.

Whirlpool Ice Maker Won't release ice

Jetguy77,

I have a 1993 year (16 years old now) Whirlpool side-by-side with icemaker, Model ED22PW. I have had similar problems with the icemaker - water goes in, freezes, but ice does not eject from tray. It has happened to this unit 2 times since 1993. It turns out the problem is not the thermostat. It is the icemaker motor module. The icemaker has a small synchronous (clock) motor that rotates the ice ejector. When it goes bad, the ejector does not rotate, either because the module timer had failed or the motor itself has failed. The solution is to go to your nearest applinace parts dealer and by a new "icemaker motor module" for Whirlpool Model (your model here). Mine cost $58.85 the last time I replaced it in 2006. To install the new module, you will need to remove the icemaker from the refrigerator. Mine has 3 screws that attach it to the side. Also unplug the power & control cable. The water tube slides out when you pull the unit forward. When you get it out, it is then easy to remove the motor module and insert the new one. You may have to reset the timer on the module to get the tray to fill completely.

Water runing down back side of icemaker and forming icicle.

If it is running down the back of the icmeaker then you need to make sure the inlet tube is properly installed into the fill cup on the icemaker. If the tube is in the right place then your icemaker fill level needs to be adjusted.

Ice machine not making ice

Hi, everak11,
Three possible solutions for you.
1: No water coming in from inlet valve. Check voltage on inlet if you have voltage and no water then replace valve.
2:Icemaker not cycleing. Lift the arm on the icemaker to shut it off and leave it for about an hour. Come back in and turn the icemake back on by lowering the arm. If the icemaker does not begin a new cycle and the arm start rising then the problem is most likely an icemaker. Replace Icemaker
3:Refrigerator not cold enough. If the freezer is not getting cold enough the icemaker will not cycle. Check the temperature in the freezer and make sure it is getting down to 0 degrees. If not then you may have another problem with your refrigerator. I hope this helps you, Let me know if you have any other questions or symptoms. Mike
