Did putting the iPod into disc mode help resolve your issue at all?

Have you already restored the iPod in disc mode? If not I would greatly recommend doing so. I have posted a step by step on getting an iPod (click wheel) into disc mode below. It is a common apple trouble shooting technique for trouble shooting iPods that are having restore/update/sync problems. Also I would make sure that the iTunes software is up to date. :)

Putting ipod into disc mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363
Toggle the Hold switch on and off.
(Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.

Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will change and say "Do not disconnect"
If you are having difficulty putting the iPod model into disk mode, set it on a flat surface. Make sure that the finger pressing the Select button is not touching the Click Wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Play/Pause button toward the outside of the Click Wheel and not near the center.

If you are still unable to put your iPod with a Click Wheel into Disk Mode, use one finger from one hand to press the Select button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Play/Pause button.

If you did a hard reset and it still doesn't connect, not even to windows explorer, most likely you have a broken logic board or broken hard drive. Try to listen to the HDD when it is spinning - is there a repetivie sound? If so, it's a defective HDD, if the hdd spins smoothely mostlike a broken logic board, you can try to replace it yourself, there are guides websites online that teach you iPod repair skills, if you're already a little tech savy.

How do i reset dell latitude e6500

Have you tried F8?
Vista instructions:

Press F8 at startup and then go to "repair your computer". Then, select your language and logon as a user with administrative rights. In the list that appears click Dell Factory Image Restore. Follow the steps in the wizard to complete the restoration process.

Things to do afterward: Run Windows Update, install your apps/restore documents from backup, and make sure security software is present and turned on.

If for some reason you can't access Dell Factory Image Restore (for some odd reason my computer is like that, even with the partition intact) you'll have to breakout the Windows Vista DVD and the Drivers CD and do a clean install. Follow the steps here: http://support.dell.com/support/top...E4FE040AE0AB7E107E3&l=en&s=gen#man_osri_task2

For XP: Make sure the computer's off. Turn it on then as soon as you see the Dell logo, hold the Ctrl key down, then press F11. Release both keys. If you timed it right, the Dell PC Restore By Symantec wizard should start. Follow the steps in the wizard.

Ipod touch 1st Gen turns off during restore. (Need Help!) Please?

You might want to try holding the top button and the home button until it turns on, then let go of the top button. Keep the home button held down until the "Plug Into iTunes" picture comes up. You should be able to normal restore now. If this doesn't work, just go get it repaired.

Plays music but never chenges screens

A couple of things for you to try. 1. Reset Hold down the 'Menu' and the centre button for at least 10 seconds. You should see the Apple logo & the iPod starts up again
2. Restore
You need to do a 'Restore'. Connect your iPod with the cable that came with it to the USB port on your computer. In iTunes, click and (Restore). This will rebuild all the software on the iPod and restore your songs.
Good luck.

When i turn on my ipod touch it just says connect to itunes when i do nothing happens cant access anything.

you have a software cooruption. the only way to fix this is to do a restore. try plugging it into itunes and see what happens. if itunes recognizes the ipod it will tell you to restore it. if itunes does not recognize the ipod you need to unplug the ipod and turn it completely off. then you need to plug the ipod while holding the home button down until itunes recognizes the ipod and then it will tell you to restore it.
