Thermal protection fuse has started burning out when oven self-cleans. Ran fine for years, now this has started happening. Not every time it self-cleans, but have now replaced second fuse in 2 years. Is...

Hi,

The most common reason for this is the door not sealing properly, if hot air escapes out the seal during the clean cycle it will be pulled across the thermal fuse.

The second most common cause is reduced air flow. If the blower wheel is dirty it cannot move as much air across the fuse to keep that area cool, if the vents just above and below the door are dirty and dusty they can block air flow too.

Oven won't heat. tested element and it is fine. What next?

If you do have power coming to the oven, check the thermal safety fuse-it's on the back of the oven under the sheet metal shroud.

If you still have the owners manual, it tells you how to test for this issue without having to pull the oven out of the wall.

I'm having this problem with my oven for the second time in a couple of years and am in process of trying to find out if there's an underlying issue.

I move the hinges to the broil position and then angle my door into the hinges. It is tricky.

I used the self clean option and now my oven will

There is a thermal fuse inside the rear panel of the oven that frequently blows when using self clean option. This is where I would start looking.

KEBS 278 DWH6 After self cleanng (Top oven) everything shut down. There is still power to the ovens and I have shut off breaker for a long time to see if computer reset. I read that the problem might be...

The thermal fuse is in back of the oven. This is a design flaw of the oven KitchenAid won't admit. Everytime you use the self clean feature this will happen.
The oven has to be taken out to reach the fuse in the back and replaced. The fuse costs about $40+, but the labor will probably run around $300+ unless you feel confortable doing this yourself.
I am about to replace mine for the 2nd time, good luck!

Kitchenaid single oven, error code is a picture of a push pin

its a "meat probe" not a pushpin. somehow the unit thinkd you hae a meatprobe inserted, soundslike a short in the meat probe jack( usually happens in high moisture areas, the wires swell and make contact with eachother, the replacement jack, has better insulation around the wires, you could also disconnect the wire harness from the main board assy(behind the console, if you never use the function!
