Gateway nv57h73u...wireless is gone...I even repalced the chip...still nothing!

Lost the wireless feature a while back. I don't use it much, so I didn't even know it wasn't working- until I needed it. I have gone through every process to find it. Followed untold tutorials from online forums...nothing. A few weeks back, I researched the chip by removing the cover on my machine to see where it was, and if I could replace it. I carefully removed one of the quick-connects to make sure I could do it myself. After turning the laptop back on, the wireless signal was there! It uploaded a driver and was working...and I could turn it on and off! It was listed in the device manager again! Simple but weird fix I thought. I shut the computer off that night like I always do, and it was gone again the next day, like nothing even happened. Bought a brand new Intel wireless chip. Installed it. Nothing. Mobility center doesn't show anything wireless. Tried a complete reboot, nada, still gone. Countless downloads, nope. I have a network controller in the device manager that has an exclamation point next to it- if you try to load/search for a new driver, it can't find it. Windows troubleshooter can't identify the problem. I've owned this laptop for just over a year, love it, but hate this problem! Next?

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: XTV2.0 software says "Please install the XTV2.0 Hardware Device"

Windows is installing the wrong driver. If the driver is loaded in the Device manager list ( /Sound, Video and Game Controllers ) as USB2821 then the wrong driver is loaded. It should be loaded under Imaging devices as XTV2.0. If this is the case right click on the USB2821 device and reload the driver again from the CD under "XTV20\Driver\Manual and select "EMVIDEO.INF" or from from a different location`until the correct driver is loaded. It won't work until the driver XTV20 is loaded under (Imaging Devices).

SOURCE: gateway computer

You're best bet is putting it on Ebay with a reserve or starting bid, or you can finding a local shop that sells used computers and see if they will put it on consignment. They probably won't give near what it's worth, just for the simple fact of turning a profit. At my shop we offer about a third of the asking price, which is negoticable.

My touchpad scroll bar on my Gateway NV57H73u Laptop is not working. The touchpad itself is working though. Can anyone help?

Some laptops/notebooks [weight is the difference between the two], sometimes if you've tapped on the touchpad, it can activate or deactivate features. However, if you're running windows 8, be careful with window updates since they have been known to screw up your PC.....

Touch pad driver for NV57H73u

Have you checked out the Gateway support page below:

For the Gateway Model NV57h it appears that there are two touchpad suppliers ELANTECH and Synaptics, The page has most of the drivers for your laptop including the last 2 or 3 ver. of each Manfacturer Touchpad driver. Just click the download arrow next to the driver you need then open the file once downloaded, re-boot(not always nessasary but usually it is required), If the driver was your issue and you downloaded the correct one, that should have you up and running.

Sir i lost my wireless network name and my wireless network password

to get back you wireless information, first you have to connect you laptop hard wired to the router using the ethernet cable, then open a browser and access the firmware of the router, usually for dlink routers, the default gateway to access the router is(,but if you don't know the default gateway, you can go to the network connection by typing (ncpa.cpl) in the run box or the start search from the start menu. look for "LAN or Highspeed Internet or Local Area connection" then right click on it and select status. Note:make sure that the laptop is propperly connected via network cable.
you will have the "status" page.

for winXP: click on support tab and look for the "default gateway"

for win vista and win7: click on "details" button and look for "ipv4 default gateway"

The "default gateway" number including "dot" needs to be typed in the address bar of your browser.
The router then will ask you to enter the username and password, which is located in the back on side of the router. After you got to the router page, on the left pannel, click on "wireless settings" there you will see you wireless information.

The gateway light lights up on the front but nothing will come up on the screen

If the computer turns on then it's usually the video thats gone bad. If it's onbaord video then the you need to install a video card.

If that doesn't work then try swapping out the RAM. One of the chips may have gone bad.

Do you hear any beeps when the machine turns on?
