Can not remove MEMORY CARD from canon a540

It locks and unlockes fine, however it will NOT come out of camera. Feels like it is hitting a STOP?? Push down, it locks in place, push down again and it pops up a short distance, and hits a stop???? Have pulled pretty hard on card. Camera works fine. thanks in advance

Pull it harder. You obviously don't want to break it but if it still doesn't come out, I would look for screws and try to take the camera apart. Take the battery out first and don't forget how it goes back together and it should be fine.

It's a lost cause. The A540 works with SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in devices not designed for them. You need to stay with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Locked card

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My memory card is locked and i tried everything i have a canon a540 powershot and the memory card is a sandisk 8gb

Have you noticed the slider on the side of the card? This acts as a lock and might have been accidentally moved to the locked position, in which case you could just move it back to unlock again. Hope this helps.

Memory card locked. Will this camera support SDHC cards or just SD cards

The A540 uses SD cards, not SDHC cards.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Memory card says "card locked"?

There might be a little switch on the side of the memory card that allows it to be locked. Just unlock it, and it should be fine.

Memory card locked

When this problem occur you need to set the memory card unlock or not protected. Remove the memory card from camera and you can see a small button in the memory card, so you need to slide that to set the memory card unlock or not protected.

Remove the SD card from the camera. Look for the tiny slide switch on the side of the card. Slide this switch back to the unlocked position (opposite of whatever its at now).

There's a little switch on the side of the SD card. Remove it from the camera and find the switch. Normally, there's some very small printing next to it saying something like (Lock / Unlock).

I had the same problem with a card in my power shot A540. on the side of the card there is a little white slide-bar. Push that bar the opposite direction of where it is and see if that works. Good luck!
