Lamp reset I replaced the lamp in my PT-50LC14 and now I get a message everytime I turn it on that "the hour meter needs to be reset. How does one reset this meter?

  • cdpatric1 Oct 17, 2008

I had changed my light bulb 3 months ago and did not reset the lamp at that time as I didn't know about it. I bought the light bulb from E-bay at around $110. The first lamp I had lasted a little over 3 years and it finally blew and now I got a red light and a message that my lamp needed to be replaced. I know all I need to do is to reset my counter. My picture is clear and not anywhere dark and I know my bulb is good. I tried to reset the counter by pushing the down volume and at the same time pushing the split button. I do not have the PIP button. I alos would like to know how one gets the data to come up about the bulb. My TV is the panasonic PT-50LC14. Thank you

This also works for the Panasonic PT-61LCX65. You hold the volume button down on the projection display, then hold down the Split/ DVD button on the remote control at the same time. I just did it after reading the advice posted. Thank you!

Press the power button to turn the unit on.
While pressing the Vol-(volume down) button on the projection display,
hold down the PIP button on the remote control at the same time for more
than 5 seconds. When the reset procedure is complete the following message
will appear on the screen. "Lamp time was reset to 0".

Thank You,

That's it !!!! jpkesq you are the man!! (or woman- don't mean to be presumptuous) the PIP button on my remote is the same as the split / play button. (I don't have a pip button) It worked beautifully just as you said. I had to hold both buttons simultaneously for about 10-20 sec's. I have been trying to fix this for about 3 months. Panasonic screwed up big by not including this little instruction in their manual- what dopes!
thanx a million jp!

Unable to reset Lamp Hour Meter on Panasonic PT-50LC14

Try this, using the Panasonic remote, wait until the notice about your lamp goes AWAY (it wont work with the message still up).
Hold the volume down on your tv while holding the split/play button on the remote.
You will get a notice about 4-5 seconds later that it was reset.

Reseting The Projection Lamp Hours Meter

If you need the original remote, you can order the original Panasonic replacement remote control for this model (PT-50LC14) from a major Panasonic parts distributor at the link below:

Panasonic PT-50LC14 Replacement Part Remote Control

Sometimes there's a way to reset the counter by mashing certain keys on the TV itself in a sequence, but if your owner's manual doesn't specify this option, then you may have to get the original replacement remote to be able to reset it.

Panasonic tv model pt-50LC14 will not turn on

First, turn off the tv. Once the fan has stopped, unplug the tv. Remove the front cover from it latches (takes up most of the area below the screen). On the left is the lamp door. One screw holds the door. Remove lamp door. Looks like one screw holds the lamp assembly. Loosen screw and remove lamp. Lamp may be hot if the set was running before you began the lamp replacement.

If you have a new lamp assembly, reverse the process. If a new lamp without assembly, change lamps. CAREFUL. No fingerprints on the new lamp. The oil in the fingerprints will shorten the life of the new lamp.

Reset lamp hours in the menu when done.
