Question about Hitachi 43GX01B 43" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

No power I have a LG DLP HDTV that was on, but when I left the room and came back there was no picture and no power. I've tried unplugging and turning back on and also tried other outlets. Still nothing. I think there might have been a power surge because I turned on the air just before. The other components are working though. Any idea?

The cover is on. I replaced the bulb a year ago and no problems since. Could I have possible blown the TV with too much power on? All other components are working

There was a small fuse on the back of the tv in what looks to be the circut panel. It was obviously blown. Could this possibly be the problem then? I am hopefully it is. Thanks for the advice.

I tried the fuse, but each time I replace the fuse it pops as soon as I plug it in. Could there be another fuse? OR is the power supply the problem? There is a small black round cover on the power cord before it reaches the circuit board. Should I try opening the box/cover to see if there is a fuse in there?

Check to make sure that the lamp access cover is installed properly. There is a safety switch that prevents the tv from powering on while this cover is off. This may be true especially if the lamp was serviced recently or the tv was moved, power cord pulled etc.

There are only a couple of more things that might cause this problem. It's possible that a power surge blew the main fuse inside the TV. I would look for a fuse on the back panel. If its not there, check inside between the power cord and the main power supply. Unplug the set before removing any covers. Remove the fuse before checking and replace with same type and rating. Check for loose connections, other bad fuses, etc. Replace all covers before plugging in the power cord.

    Good luck,

Great. We are on the right track. The problem must be after the circuit panel. I don't know if its the power supply yet. I need to know more about the fuse. The fuse you replaced could have been the wrong value to begin with. I'll need to research the correct one before I know for sure. The TV draws at least 1.6 amps when on but draws substantially more at power-up. The fuse needs to be at least 125V, 5 AMP, and say SB (slow blow) on it. If the fuses you tried were rated lower than this, then getting the right fuse would most likely solve the problem. Looking for another blown fuse is a good idea. If two blown fuses are in parallel and only one is replaced, then the new fuse would almost certaintly pop as soon as power was applied. Do you have an ohm meter? A battery powered trouble light would work just fine for checking the fuses. Let me know through comments.

My LG 42LC7D tv wont turn on. The green led lights but no picture or sound

There could be several things going on, I would start with having the power supply checked. I've worked on several LG sets from that time frame that all had bad capacitors in the power supply causing all sorts of issues

LG 32LH30 screen won't power up. Red light at bottom glows hi to low, but no picture. Unplugged and waited overnight, plugged in again, still no picture.

There is a way to tell if you have a bad board, or a bad panel.

1. Make the room dark and turn on the TV. Can you see it light up? If so, does it stay lit or turn right back off?

2. If the panel lights, but you have no picture, I would suspect the T-con. Some units now have the T-con incorporated with the main board, so you will need to check.

3. If you never get any light at all, then I would suspect the power supply.

4. If you only get light for a second or two, then you have a bad panel.
