SOURCE: Water flooding out

Hi KellyW,

The dishwasher drain hose may be clogged.  When the dishwashr starts up can you hear the water running into the Sink faucet drain. If not inspect the hose that attaches to the Sink Drain for restrictions.  Also in the bottom of the dishwasher you should have a filter.  If this filter is clogged you cannot expel water.  Clean the filter.

Are you saying it overfilled and flooded out, or did it empty onto the floor?

SOURCE: Lots of water under dishwasher

I use the tablets too. A simple change of soap won't create or cure a leaking dishwasher. I own the same HDT18PA dishwasher, also known as a POS.

Where is the leak coming from? You will need to remove both the shell and the lower pan from the dishwasher to be able to find this part. It is a water guide from the pump body that connects to both the lower spray head and the upper spray head. This is the MAIN water plumbing, once the water is within the dishwasher.

The part is manufactured from TWO pieces of plastic, and not melted together very well. The pressure from the pump is considerable, and these pieces of plastic have a large amount of flex applied from the INSIDE to them. They WILL FAIL, it is only a matter of time.

But in a statement to the build quality of this Haier, not even the BRICK that you will find zip-tied to the inside of the casing will be damaged by this leak... Only your counter, cabinets, kitchen... Those will all suffer from the Noah-esque floods that will be visited upon you when it fails without warning.

I've already taken this thing apart and rebuilt it once, using a heat welder to REALLY seal this plumbing together. It lasted 2.5 years of 1-2 times per week usage, and has now failed again.

I will not be replacing this in it's built-in location that I designed in my RV until it is either fixed with a METAL part that I will have to fabricate, or I find a new dishwasher.

SOURCE: flood switch

I had the same problem and I fixed mine. It wasn't hard at all. First, make sure power is off either unplug or shut off breaker. Next, open the lower drawer and on the sides toward the bottom you will see a circular recessed pin with a flat slot. Without forcing, wiggle the door down. When you get it off you have to remove the wire harness, just unplug it. Now, on the sides at the bottom, you will see where the drawer fits on the slid rail. Push the plastic button slightly to release the lock for the slid rail to the drawer and push the slid rail all the way back as to release the drawer fronm the rail. Be carefull when you release one side as to hold it up still while removing the other one. Now, flip the drawer on its side and try to get it as far out of the way as possible to the right of the unit. You will now notice a plastic cover at the back left of the unit. This is where the flood swith is. Remove this cover by sliding to the right. The will be water under the circuit board you see. Soak up as much as possible and you can use a hair dryer to get the tough spots. Now try to find the resson for the water. I had a mouse living under mine. Look for a break in one of the hoses. After all dried up turn power back in before reinstalling lower drawer. If dried properly, the dishwasher should stop beep beep beeping. Now turn water back on and run upper drawer. Inspect hoses again. 50/50 chance. If now water, reinstall lower by replacing plastic cover, place drawer on rails and slide all the way back. It should click back in if on rails correctly. Now install the door face, line up tabs into drawer, and slide up. Align holes for recessed circular pins and just push them in. Test lower. Thats all I got, Hope it helps.

Oversudsing Stops cycle

Oversudsing causes some dishwashers to trigger the flood switch. This is because the suds overflow and leak through the air holes. As soon as the flood switch is triggered inside the dishwasher it shuts itself off.

Wait for the suds to disppear and the flood switch to dry off. Use recommended type of detergent.

What type of dishwasher do you have? Has your kitchen floor flooded? If it has. The tray under dish washer isn't water tight. Moisture creates some unusual problems. Some of newer dish washer the there control panel under the top of door this also create problem especially if the switches are on the top of the door. Another moisture problem. I have repaired a new Electrolux dish was three times in less than 6 months. The floor would flood from the Maytag side load washing machine. The Madam of the house didn't tell me that the washing machine flooded the kitchen floor. No window in the door and sometime fill water solenoid would stick and fill the tube. When they open washing machine door, 12 gallons of water would spill. So I fix both of them. GB...stewbison

Hi my whirlpool dishwasher wont stop drainning even when the start button is of

This is a typical Anti Flood system activation. This system activates when water leaks onto the floor of the machiene due to a leak fault (pipe/hose clamp/ partly blocked pipe). The machiene automatically switches to pump out mode and stops water inlet. The anti flood system is a polystireen float / micro switch at the base of the machiene floor. Dry the floor and drectify the leak and it should work.

Whirlpool gold dishwasher

Did you use dishwasher detergent? Liquid soap that you use in the sink for dishes will foam and flood the floor. If it is the machine I need to know if it won't stop filling or if it leaks while the machine is running.
