Belt shifting/crooked and frayed on Proform 725 TL

Hello...I just bought a used treadmill: Proform 725 TL...the belt is shifted to the right at the bottom (it is actually crooked on alignment - not straight on the rollers) and there is fraying on the left side - whole belt...I can walk manually to move belt away from roller edges, but it just goes right back to original crooked place. there is nothing in the manual regarding fixing ....it actually says not to lubricate belt or platform, although it looks like oil has been applied at some point somewhere, as there are 'blobs' soaked on to the belt 'joint'...additionally, there is a half circle piece of plastic broken away from the roller casing (rear roller cover, where roller pin enters) - is this a problem?..it does not look as though it hinders performance at all, but again, I know nothing about this!...any feedback would be greatly appreciated!...thanks so much!

This has just happened to me but I cant seem to get the left side roller back in place. I have searched on line to find a rear roller cover but no one seems to recognize the original part number of 132218 - it is number 82 in the original manual.

In the back of the manual, it describes the adjustment for this. on the end of the platform (near where your belt is crooked) there is a hex nut. the manual says to turn the machine off before adjusting, i find it is much easier to do while the tread is still moving. turn it about a quarter or half turn one way or the other until the tread is aligned.

If the walking belt has shifted to the left, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the allen wrench, turn the left rear roller adjustment bolt clockwise, and the right bolt counterclockwise, 1/4 of a turn each. Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt. Plug in the power cord, insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is centered. HOW DO YOU ADJUST THE BELT ON A PROFORM 725 SPACE SAVER PERSONAL TRAINER TREADMILL. IT MOVES FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND IS FRAYING AT THE EDGE. DO YOU ACCESS THE ADJUSTMENT IN THE FRONT OR THE BACK OF THE...

Use the allen wrench to loosen side that is touching. 1st locate on the end of the treadmill 2 slots, 1 on each side and place the allen wrench into the slot. turn anticlock wise 1/4 turn. Turn on treadmill at 3 to 4 miles per hour (not standing on it) and make ajustments in 1/4 turns until belt gets centered and snug. When you have it centered you may ahve to tighten or loosen it in case it is slipping when you are running on it. When you ajust it when centered you should do this in 1/4 turns on both sides to keep it centered. If this doesnt fix the problem I suggest that you may have some other problem or are not capable of reolving this problem on your own. Ask another friend for there opinion if this fails.

Our Proform 585TL's belt has shifted to the left and it starting to fray. We can physically move it back to center, but as soon as we start the belt again is moves back to the left. Any suggestions?

There's a hex screw at the back of the deck, just to the left of the belt. Turning this screw one way or the other will change the angle of the roller. If the roller isn't at the correct angle, the belt moves over either to the left or the right.
