When was the last time you had the trans serviced?
It could be seizing up from the lack of oil

I have a husqvarna rider 155, the transmission loses power after I have ben mowing for an hour

Hi, remove the battery and battery carrier, clean all grass and debris from the hydrostatic drive, cooling fins and fan. Your problem is most likely the hydrostatic drive over heating. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

The mower gets slower and slower and then stops moving completely. I turn it off for five or ten minutes and it's okay ... occuring more frequently ....

The hydrostat transmission is low on fluid. Check your manual, some of these can be filled...most cannot. If yours can't be filled/doesn't have a fill opening, Husq is going to recommend to replace the transmission (sealed unit). There has been limited success by trying to top off the trans thru the vent tube. This is not a Husq approved repair, and is very slow and tedious. But it is a lot less expensive. Good luck!

Countrax C600H When pulling away at highest engine revs the gear box make a werring noise which fades away once i get to speed. Is this something to worry about. Does not happen if speed is built up...

Most likely it is nothing to worry about, just pull off slow. I take it is a hydrostatic transmission? Fluid level for a hydrostatic has to be checked at a small engine repair/deal shop. I have noted that when transmissions go bad the whirring noise becomes signifantly louder, but some whir is normal.

Hydrostat trans starting to make moaning noise stops pulling

it may be full of dirt etc and has soaked up most of the oil inside the case, if the axle seals are worn and the selector shaft seal is worn I would say that is the problem, if that is the case you may be up for a new trans as I have done a transaxle just recently and the damage inside was extensive and expensive.
you will have to remove the trans and seperate the trans case for inspection
Hope this helps
