SOURCE: No display, green light on ViewSonic VP201b 20.1 LCD

I have two broken VP201 monitors with different symptoms. One was black screen green light - like yours. The other was purple speks flying all over the screen., purple tint.

I swapped the power supplies and display boards, both monitors had original problems. I swap the inverters and the monitor which was black screen now appeared to work okay - but slightly pink and the monitor which was purple speks is now black screen.

I would therefore assume that both my inverters gone, one being on it's way out. You probably have the black-screen case.

SOURCE: Viewsonic VP2030b LCD monitor - No power

There should be one fuse in the power supply inside. You can check and replace that if its dead. now if its not dead and you got power to that point you do need to rule out any capcitors at that time but if the fuse is gone it will not hurt to check the rest of the supply for the fault.

Please rate and accept the answer if it did help.

You need to open it up and the first place to look will be the power supply, look for bad caps with bulging top, post back what you find so we can guide you further. See example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps:

We had a similar problem with a bigscreen TV. We feared the worse, but after calling our local repair service, they told us this was a common problem involving a poor solder joint. They came out and fixed it in 15 minutes. Start by Googling your model number and "green" or "troubleshoot" to see if this is a common problem. If so, you may be able to fix it yourself or print out the issue and take it to a reputable repair shop or authorized dealer.

Monitor turn on button is stuck

The monitor screen is black can be caused by bad caps in the power supply, bad inverter circuits, or worst will be bad lamps, you need to open it up and look at the power supply for bad caps first, look for caps with bulging top or bottom seal and then report back so we can guide you further, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps:

Screen is black with power light on. It worked when I turned it off on Friday and now on Sunday when I turned it on there was no video. I moved this monitor to another working computer and it did not work....

The problem is with the monitor. Try to check its cables if properly plugged in.

If the problem is still there, then you might want to have a service center check the monitor.
