I used the chips from the original cartridges. Three of the five engaged. Magenta and Cyan cartridges do not light up.

I have canon pixma mp500. The blue ink won't

This is common in Canon Pixma printers (all models). If you are refilling your cartridges or are buying refurbished cartridges this will happen more often. Take the cartridge out and put it back in. If this does not work, then replace the cartridge altogether. If that doesn't work, you need to contact Canon (us.canon.com if you are in the U.S.) for help. Let me know if this helps you.

Canon MP500 error message

If you're using Canon OEM (branded) cartridges you're going to need to ID the problem chip/cartridge so I'd try and get hold of some empty originals from somewhere (CartridgeWorld or similar perhaps?) and put those in as replacements for one cartridge at a time until you ID the problem cartridge/chip

If they're non-branded then chances are you do have more than one of the same chip but the solution is much the same...

If all else fails, take the printer to a friendly retailer who sell Canons and ask them to help you ID the problem cartridge.

Refilled ink cartridges on canon pixma ip4300. Need to reset ink

You can try www.lasertechgroup.com their cartridges come with the chip and are more reasonably priced than the Canon originals. I've seen chip resetters in the shops but not yey one for this printer.

Changed the large black ink cartridge but we use the replacements that you need to use the old chip with. Changed the chip over but the printer won't recognize. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Apparently because of using "generic" ink cartridges and not the over priced Canon the printer will not "recognize" the ink levels or monitor but it prints just fine.

Hey- i just wanted to say that I had the same problem with my MP600. Unlike some people, I have a problem buying ripoff cartridges from a store. I use my printer alot and I simply refill these. You can buy any refill kit and especially with these cartridges, drill a hole near the top and just fill it and plug it. The sponge sucks it up and you're all set. As far as the Chip problem-it is a pain in the ass and the **** at Canon probably won't fix it. HOWEVER, if you still want to print and don't mind that your ink counter says that you are empty simply hold the "STOP/RESET" and the "Black" print button together until it clears and you'll be set. I do it all the time and I know it works on the later MPs. Check it out and stick it to the man

Canon Technical Support team will be able to help here. This seem a common problem with the printer firmware.
