Hi. Lately my tv is turning on but once the video signal is recognized, the screen goes green with vertical lines. Then the set turns off, turns back on, and then I may see a picture but the colors and...

This is a foreign voltage issue. It's very high voltage with minimal current. Milliamps to say the least. It is not dangerous. The only way to test for this voltage is with a foreign voltage tester that low volt techs and electricians use to identify charged or hot lines. You can dump this foreign voltage over the coax cable coming into the house as long as the coax cable has a ground block outside where it comes into the house. If the DTV and XBOX are unplugged you say that it doesn't do it, correct? What other peripherals do you have plugged i when you unplug these two? Well, if that's the case then the problem is not your TV it's either the XBOX or the DTV. I diagnose these issues for AT&T Uverse and have come across similar situations like this one. How this voltage comes across the frame is too complicated to explain in this forum. First, determine whether or not it does it with just the DTV box hooked up. Isolate the problem down to the particulars. This voltage will pass over any connection between the peripheral and the tv. this voltage will cause other small problems like voice and video not sync'd, delay on channel changing, automatic shutdown of individual peripherals, etc. Do you have any of these symptoms? I can help you, but we need to establish a question answer forum to go further. Answer these questions and try to get more troubleshooting data. Excellent narrative by the way. Let me know.

When i turn on x box 360 the green center light appears but the four side lights to not ( no ring). I can open and close the disc on x box but nothing shows up on the tv.

Are your controllers connected to the xbox? that is how you get green light bars around your main green light bar. If you are not refuring to this and nuthing is showing up on your tv screen but you have sound try ajusting/ spinning around the yellow av cord ( Yellow cord is what projects pictures onto screen) . Hope it helped. =]

Dose not show on screen anymore. son said he was asked to change something. he did. cant play anymore.Must be some setting that was changed. Cant get it to show on T.V. TV says unsupported format. HELP

Not sure what you are talking about, this is a bit vague..... try this, on the back of the xbox there is a switch on the plug that goes to the TV, if the TV is not HI-DEF and you are using just the red + white + yellow plugs, then switch to TV, if your using the red + white + blue + green + red then switch to HDTV.
Your Son could have also switched a setting on the dashboard to use HI-DEF, if he did, maybe switching back the TV mode on the TV out plug may correct the issue.
Kids love to play with things! lol...

Problems with picture quality

if it shows up on multiple games then there is a problem with either your cord or your tv. Trying cleaning the connectors that room from the xbox to the tv. Do you have an old tv or a newer one?

Tv will not pick up 720 and hold, reverts back to 480, why?

480/720/1080 is a function of the XBOX not the TV. The TV cannot change the resolution. The resolution indication that shows on the TV is only what it is recieving, not what it is showing, You need to check the XBox or whatever you are using.
The Green Line on the other hand is a defect and if the TV is in warranty you should make them fix it!!! That is unless this green line only appears with a single source....it should show ALL the time.

X box looks like it starts up but the screen will stay blank

Check the status of the "HD" switch on the side of the video connector, nearest to the Xbox. I have the same non-HDMI Xbox. If I have it hooked up via component to a non-HD TV, and the switch is on "HD", it will show no video.

Drive not reading

Basic questions:

1. Has it every worked correctly or is this a new installation?

2. Is the video cable hooked up correctly? Switch set to HDTV or TV, appropriately? Is it inserted both to the console and the TV securely?

3. Is the TV set to the right input? AV1, AV2, etc...?
