What is the resistance of the primary winding?


Hi I just checked the primary winding on two transformers for u one was 13 ohm the other 21 ohm for 240 volt power supply Sounds like u have a shorted turn on the primary winding. Hope this helps

There is still much you need to check. Is the magnet broken, when you say windings have resistance, how much restance? Did you check all connections an clean them? Are the diodes working? Did you measure any voltage at the input of the diode pack? If so is it very low or excessively high? Are you sure no voltage is coming after the diode pack? It could be a short in the windings. Do you have the wires connected correctly? Just way to much to ask an need a bunch more info on what you are finding an doing.
After looking at the service manual did you check the exciter or sampling coil? Have you checked the brushes? Have you checked he current transformer? Also is the breaker pushed over correctly? I had this happen once. It could be bad. To many things to check.

Ignition Coil Primary Circuit Test
Remove the coil. THEN set your ohmmeter scale to RX1 and place ohmmeter leads on the primary coil windings A (front of coil) to B (middle of coil), B to C (front of coil) and check for primary coil winding resistance which normal resistance range is 0.5-0.7 ohms. If primary resistance is not within this range check out test results below.

Ignition Coil Secondary Circuit Test
With the ignition coil removed from the motorcycle and the ohmmeter set to the RX1K scale place the ohmmeter leads on the secondary coil windings B (middle terminal) to
R (rear secondary terminal/socket), B to F (front secondary terminal/socket) and check for secondary coil winding resistance which normal resistance range will be 5.5-7.5K ohms. If secondary resistance is not within this range check out test results below.

Test Results
A low resistance value indicates a short in the coil winding which requires coil replacement.

A high resistance value might indicate that there is some corrosion/oxidation of the coil terminals requiring the coil terminals to be cleaned and the resistance test then repeated and if after the test is repeated the resistance is still high after the terminals were cleaned the coil must be replaced.
If there is an infinite ohms or no continuity) resistance value the coil is open and must be replaced.

This fault code is pointing to a fault in the Driver's Side Air Bag module. To correctly diagnose this issue, you will need to run several tests on the components of this system.


Driver air bag high resistance can be caused by:

  • - a poor connection or corrosion in the driver air bag module circuits or the air bag sliding contact.
  • - an open circuit or high resistance in the air bag sliding contact windings.
  • - an open circuit or high resistance in the wiring harness.
  • - an open circuit or high resistance in the driver air bag module.
  • - an RCM internal concern.

Is this a Dometic unit? I really need a good model number if this is not a Dometic unit because the Dometic unit RM2852 does NOT have any fans at all.
If I am understanding this correctly your condenser fan is not operating. Do a resistance check on the fan winding. (POWER Removed) If you get resistance clean up the fan motor as best you can and lubricate the bearings with a paraffin base oil like Zoom Spout Turbine Oil or Union 76 Turbine Oil. I have power to the HEI distributor, but nothing down the plug wires. I would like a test to see if the internal(removable) coil is good, maybe a resistance value


Below is a generic proceedure for checking your ignition coil.

Ignition Coil Resistance
  • With the key off and the battery lead to the ignition coil disconnected, use an ohmmeter to measure the primary and secondary winding resistance of the ignition coil. when checking the resistance across the windings, pay particular attention to the meter reading. if the reading is out of specifications, even if it is only slightly out, the coil or coil assembly should be replaced.
  • To check the primary windings, calibrate an ohmmeter on the X1 scale and connect the meter leads to the primary coil terminals to test the winding.

  • An infinite ohmmeter reading indicates an open winding. The winding is shorted if the meter reading is below the specified resistance. Most primary windings have a resistance of 0.5 to 2 ohms, but the exact manufacturer's specifications must be compared to the meter readings.

Does the compressor make any noise at all?

You can ohm out the compressor windings. I dont know off the top of my head which compressor manufacturer they are using but if it is Copeland you can get an electrical handbook and it will have ohm values for the compressor. If not assume the rule of thumb Common to Run is X, Common to Start is Y, Start to Run is X+Y, and Y should be 3 to 5 times whatever X is. On Rx10,000 scale check each terminal to ground should be open.

Ok, these codes are signaling a malfunction within the Ignition control module. it is sending way to many signals to the coil. i recommend testing the coil for damage and irregular resistance. i will explain how to do this below. i would replace the module as well. The control moduel is Located Under hood, center, rear engine area, above valve cover, mounted in base of ignition coil pack

Copleland scroll compressor failure


I have scroll chiller contains scroll compressor tandom circuit. One of the compressor failure from it due to unbalance of the winding. Previously compressor thermistor opens two to three times. Also one phase open in contactor of the compressor. Can you guide me regarding the reason of compressor failure and what is the next step for the replacement of compressor. Also give guide line for the points take care.
