Question about LaCie Hard Disk 1TB Desktop with Hi-Speed USB2.0 USB 2.0 Hard Drive
I recently bought this drive, attached to a Mac mini and working fine until yesterday when I came home - the green light was still on but the drive wasn't showing on the desktop so I unplugged the power supply from the drive and replugged it - (this has worked in the past when the drive wouldn't show; usually when I restarted the mini) -This time there are three or four weak-sounding attempts that the drive makes to spin up, then nothing - the green light stays on.
Any clues would be greatly appreciated
Hate to have bad news, but it's sounding like the drive may have gone bad...the restarts prior were warnings that it was on the way out... I would make sure you've got another drive, hook them both up and if you power up the suspect drive, you may get lucky enough to boot it up for a short while and maybe long enough to transfer some files to the newer drive.... good luck... Also, be sure that all your computer and periferals are connected to power via a power surge protection device... I've lost a few tv's and printers becuase I was too lazy or in too big a hurry...then a voltage spike trashed my stuff... Hope this helps..
