Cannot reseat imaging unit in xerox phaser 6130 printer

Setting it up for the first time. Took the imaging unit out, removed the plastic strips, now the imaging unit would not go back in all the way. On the right side, I can twist the yellow knobs, but on the left the two knobs do not go in because the unit does not go in all the way on the left side.

Solution : Replace the Imaging Unit CAUTION: Do not use warm water or cleaning solvents to remove Toner (Dry Ink) from your skin or clothing. This will set the Toner and make it difficult to remove. If any Toner gets on your skin or clothing, use a brush to remove the Toner, blow it off, or wash it off with cold water and mild soap.
Do not drop or shake the Imaging Unit after it has been removed from the printer as Toner spills can occur.
Do not expose the Imaging Unit to any light source for more than five minutes. Prolonged exposure to light may damage the unit. Cover the Imaging Unit with a light shield (such as a sheet of paper). Do not touch the shiny blue Transfer Belt.

  1. Power OFF the printer using the power switch located on the left side of the printer, toward the back. Press the power switch to the OFF (O) position.

  5. Place the used Imaging Unit in a bag and make sure the bag is properly sealed before discarding or recycling.
  6. Remove the new Imaging Unit from the shipping container and the sealed package.

CAUTION: Do not remove the orange protective cover from the front of the unit until it has been installed in the printer. This will protect the Transfer Belt from being touched during installation.
  7. Place the Imaging Unit on a flat surface. Hold the unit firmly with one hand and with the other hand grasp the end tab of one sealing tape and pull the tape straight out, horizontally. Repeat for the remaining tapes; there are eight tapes in total. Make sure none of the tapes have broken. Discard of the tapes as normal office waste.

NOTE: If any tape breaks off with the remainder inside the Imaging Unit, stop the installation and contact Support.
  8. Grasp the new Imaging Unit by its peach-colored pull-tabs on the top edge and install tcannot reseat imaging unit in xerox phaser 6130 pr - 6130-imag-unit-guides.jpgake sure to insert the unit into the guides in the printer, and then push the unit all the way back into the printer.

This does not solve my issue. The exact step that I have the problem with is step no. 8. "push the unit all the way back into the printer" - does not work.

Also wanted to add that I have not printed a single page from this printer yet (it was sealed in the box for the past four years) - I am still in the process of installing it. So the imaging unit or the toner has not seen any use at all. They are brand new (what originally shipped with the printer). I looked more at it and I think there is an alignment issue with the CRUM connector on the top left that the imaging unit is supposed to slide into and latch. That is not working, thus preventing the imaging unit from going back all the way in on the top left side.

SOURCE: Replaced Imaging Unit in Xerox Phaser 6200N

Do not know about not being able to remove the imaging unit but the problem with the printer wanting you to reinstall or reseat is a fairly common problem with this printer.
On the left hand side of the printer there is a nylon gear and rack that shoves the toner arms into the imaging unit. The rack and gear will sometimes strip and this causes the problem.
The solution is to take the left hand panel off the printer and realign the gear and rack. The gear pulls off and you can reposition the rack so that it is in the correct position.

SOURCE: xerox phaser 7400 replaced yellow toner, but still

This happened to us today --- really frustrating! We ended up changing the Yellow Imaging Unit early (it was 'close to end of life') and now the yellow toner is all happy & full again. . .

good luck to you!

Xerox Phaser 7400 U28 error message

The Service manual says:

The Drum Phase Sensor for the named Imaging Unit indicates that the drum is out of position.

Initial Actions:

Reseat the indicated Imaging Unit.
Cycle the printer's power.

after these steps it gets a lot more detailed and you would need to be an experienced tech to understand everything and follow the steps within a timely manner, if reseating the cyan imaging unit doesn't fix the problem, then you will have to call for service.

Hope that helps

If you get the "invalid cartridge" message, try completely turning off and unplugging the unit. Then remove the cartridge, close the door and after at least 30 seconds, restart the unit. Then reinstall the cartridge. This worked for me!

Why is my xerox 6130 only partially printing

it is possible that the scanner lense for the laser has become dirty, normally if you remove the print cartridge (Tonerand drum assy) you can see a small strip of glass, this can collect toner and dust causing the lazer not to charge the drum and give you bad or light prints
hope this helps

I have a Phaser 6130 that worked fine for a few months but now it only works as black & white. All colors are faded or just plain wrong. Can't find a reset that works and xerox tech emailed that I...

Possible solutions are, low toner or imaging unit. Try running the toner refresh routine from 'Admin Menu'. You will have to run each colours routine a few times, if this shows an improvement, the problem was with toner starvation, be careful not to over refresh as this could give you background problems.
If the refresh does not work, it is possible your laser windows are dirty (but not very likely). You will need a cotton bud to clean them. Remove the imaging unit and behind that you will see slits in the rear chassis moulding, gently rub the cotton bud along them.
If this still fails, it it is likely to be the imaging unit, though it could be the laser assembly or high voltage power supply or connecters.
Hope this helps.

Replaced Imaging Unit in Xerox Phaser 6200N printer. Error Message says to reinstall or reseat. Have done this several times; now the imaging unit cannot be removed.

Reseat imaging unit notice won't go away

The Phaser 6250 has a known flaw in the design of the gear slide assembly associated with the door over the imaging unit. One of the teeth has skipped and will require a service tech to "realign Rack-V". It's an easy fix if pictures/diagrams could be posted, but I'm not recommending a novice to attempt this fix without them. "Reseat Imaging Unit" error is a common fix for Xerox printer techs familiar with the 6250.

Image Drum

Check a couple of things. Make sure all the seals and tape strips are removes.
Also if you have a 6200 and not a 6250 cartridge, they will not interchange, different chips.
After those 2 things, suspect a defective cartridge that needs to be exchanged.
