Question about Keyspan Computers & Internet
Keyspan isn't providing communication between usb and serial device with mirror doored mac G4 running tiger OS9.2.2 are not communicating. Keyspan adapter in't working, and I've actually tried two of them (28, and 28X). I've also tried and Iogear usb to serial. Cable. Drivers for Keyspan's and Iogear loaded properly and those devices are recongized. But serial device is not getting communication. I feel like I'm missing serial software... something about this mirrordoor G4 isn't configured correctly. Help?
You didn't mention exactly what keyspan device you're trying to install. That's some pretty important information, but I'm going to make a suggestion based on what I've got at this moment. If you need more, you've got to give more info.
I'm assuming that if there is a power supply for your device, it is plugged in and working properly. Do you have the drivers installed for the end device? If not, the device might not be backward compatible. Your best bet would be to simply run it on an older computer, if you can.
If it was me, I think I'd carefully check the pins on the device you're trying to adapt to USB. Those pins are pretty delicate, compared to USB. One bent or missing data pin and it might not work.

SOURCE: USB/Serial Adapter (F5U109)
I had the same problem. I went to my Device Manager and checked the port setting for my cable. I reset the port in advanced properties and I was then able to do a transfer. I still have a yellow flag on my cable and get the error 10 but for some reason it did the transfer???

Try the TechGear USB 2.0 cardbus. There are some available on eBay for $10.00. Item number is 250394104416. I bought two for older Titanium 15" PowerBooks, one on 10.4.11; one on 10.3.9. The cards works perfectly with no software drivers. I just inserted them into the PC slots and they work fine. In one case, one computer had a bad factory USB 1.1 slot, so the card does well for extending the comuter's life. The card included a CD with drivers for older versions of Windows and Mac 10.1 and Mac 10.2. I would NOT install drivers for newer systems.
