SOURCE: Shredder suddenly runs only in reverse

Do you hear the motor moving in both directions? I just had the same problem with mine. On mine, you can hear the motor moving in both directions but it would only move the shredder teeth in reverse and the teeth would not move going forward. I took the unit apart and found out that the gear right next to the motor shaft was rounded out in the middle. The solution would be to get a new gear or gears if you can get them. Make sure you inspect all the gears to see if there is a lot of play. You might have to replace more than 1 gear. What I did on mine, was take a brass tubing that was just a little larger than the shaft, drill out the center of the bad gear and press the tubing into the center of the bad gear. This took up the extra play and my Tech Solution TS8000 is working again. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me at

SOURCE: Shredder not working

Though I only work with Fellowes shredders this sounds like a paper feed sensor issue. If your unit has a mechanical paper feed sensor you can try to jiggle it in and out to see if any paper may have become jammed behind switch. If the unit has an electronic sensor it may simply need to be cleaned with a Qtip dipped in rubbing alchohol. Sensor is usually located in the center of the paper feed opening.
If neither of these help your paper feed sensor or your pc1.gif board has gone bad and you will have to contact your manufacturer for further parts availability.

SOURCE: Office max shredder om96431

For me, the problem was the sensor connections. I took the unit apart (7 phillips screws, I'm not sure why I didn't have to remove the 8th.) Then I took the paper sensor unit off (2 more phillips screws.) Then I removed the little black box that both sensor wires are connected to (1 more phillips screw.) Then I pried that box open with a flat head screwdrive. Some parts fell out. I put it all back together and it worked.

If you don't want to mess with it, just remove the two wires and tie them together. The unit will always be on when turned on to Auto, but that's better than not working.

My shredder says it will shred cd's and dvd's but when I tried, a cd went in 1/2 way and now is stuck. Motor runs but nothing happens in forward or reverse

You can turn the shredder over (after unplugging the power cord) and see if you can pull the pieces out from under side.

Sometimes the motor gear teeth break off, and the motor just spins but wont go forward or reverse.
Hope this helps.

Wendy, in my experience in working on shredders, it sounds like you have a gear that is starting to fail. Most of the time it is very hard to find new gears for shredders unless you have purchased a very expensive model that is designed to handle a large number of sheets at a time.

any wierd noise when it goes in reverese?

is forward dead or intermittant?

most likely if reverse is perfect but forward is dead,, your control board has blown mosfets , power drivers for forward operation

Heres a few sites that have gears n boards another that has manuals you may have to call or email as not all parts are listed on website

new control board needed or buy a new unit depending on cost of board.

Aurora AS1010TX Will run forward for 1/3 of paper then into reverse.

I'm going to say it needs oiling. Try oiling the gears and cutting blades. You can buy paper shredder oil at Office Depot or Office Max.

Shredder motor seems jammed

must disassemble feeder unit and visual check for jam. The debris may be a part of the shredder that has broken off.
