Cant disable password sharing in windows xp

When password protected sharing is on, only poeple who have a user account and password on this computer can access

    that is not my problem. i understand that you can delete and change passwords all though the user account. I simply do not want passwords at all. And when it comes to "file sharing" specifically it says you must have a password in order for folders on your computer to be accessible. Other wise you get an error. thats thays the password is nual bla bla bla, you might have the wrong password or its nual meaning not there. i need to turn off

U can reset ur password from control panal->User Account->Ur Account(The Name where u give password in starting of system)->Remove password->Old password(sa u have).

You have to be the computers administrator to change any values on any hard drive on your computer


click start control panel user accounts on the users tab click the name of the computer administrator you must have full control


click start click to open on my computer you should see your usb drive could be E: or something right click select properties there will be an array of options

select the sharing tab option then advanced sharing make sure you have a tick in the share this folder box


then click permissions make sure you have all 3 boxes ticked full control changes and read in windows 7


click start control panel user accounts click on the administrators account if you have made one or you will have to create one in windows XP


click start right click on my computer select open
Right click the icon of your usb drive (It should be E:/ or something)
Click Properties in the menu that comes up
Click the Sharing tab
Click permissions
And finally, click Allow next to Full Control.

The process is simple using Window's Disk Management utility.

Open the Windows Start menu, select "Run," type "Compmgmt.msc" and click "OK." In Windows Vista and Windows 7, simply type the command into the "Search" field.


Select "Disk Management."


Locate the password-protected drive.

Right-click it and select "Delete." Confirm the action.


The drive will be erased and become unallocated free space.

However, there are times when removing a password from an account make sense. Learn how to turn off Windows 7 password protection.

Everyone can have his/her own account in win7. This avoids the obvious annoyances and security risks associated with sharing a desktop and having everyone's files available to all other users of the computer.
However, there are times when turning off password protection on a Windows 7 account makes sense. For example, if you are the only user of your computer, it may not make sense to have to type in a password every time you turn on your computer. Another case is that you are a forgetful person and you often forgot your Windows 7 User Password, you don't want to reset lost password each time you can't remember it.

Another reason you may want to remove account password protection is if you need multiple people to share the same account. Remember that anyone who has access to your computer can now log in to your account with typing password. Also, understand that anyone who steals your computer will also have access to your account and your private files. With no password protection, anyone can also set a new password and lock you out of your own account. Hi, I have two pc running with windows xp operating system. From User 1 i need to access user 2 windows folder and program files folder otherway around also but I can't how? Even if I shared windows folder...


First thing Windows XP Home Edition will give you numerous problems when sharing files, you should consider using windows XP Pro for that sort of operations.

Assuming you have Windows XP Pro installed in both computers:

1 - Create the same user on both computers ( same account name, same password ) blank passwords are not allow between file sharing as per windows xp group policy.

2 - Create a resource to share ( example: C:\)

3 - Disable simple file sharing

* go to control panel
* click on folder options
* click the VIEW tab
* unckeck the use sharing wizard

4 - Make sure that the user that will be used for authenticating between computers have the proper NTFS permissions and the proper access to the shared sources.

5 - Try to connect to the shared sources when asked for username and password type the credentials of the newly created user.

Now you should be able to connect to the shared sources both ways.

Cant remeber adminisrator password /think it was changed by teenager


If you are referring to your Windows user account password then you can try the information below.

You can start your computer is safe mode, you can do that by pressing the F8 key will you boot the computer.

Then you select the ADMIN account, if the admin account is password protected then you need to contact the computer manufacturer since that password is created when they install the Windows on your computer.

If there is no password then you are lucky then you can remove or change the password for your user account, just open the control panel then select USER ACCCOUNT and select your user name then you can change or disable the password.

You can also search you utube or google on how to reset forgotten password.

If other users are unable to access your network shares, especially if they are using older versions of Windows or old 802.11b wireless adapters, their systems might not support 128-bit encryption. Select Enable File Sharing for Devices that Use 40 or 56-bit encryption.
To simplify sharing, you can disable password protected file sharing. To do so, select Turn Off Password Protected Sharing.

Vista Laptop cannot connect to XP users


go to control panel>>add and remove prgrams>>click on add/reomve windows components on the left panel.
make sure you have the system CD.
put a check mark in "networking services" and "other network files and print services" install the addtional services.
check the share volume, make sure you have given the user rights to access the drive.

Password on shared documents on a workgroup


Password Protect Folders in XP
To password protect a folder built into Windows XP (for other Windows flavors, there are some freeware/shareware programs out there).
If you have a log in password for your account, this can be used to protect folders from other users. If not, you need to creat one. Your hard drive must be formatted using NTFS (which it probably is unless you're dual booting with another operating system). Here's what to do...
Right-click the folder that you want to make private and choose "Properties" (or Alt+Double-click). Go to the "Sharing" tab and check the "Make this folder private" box.

Click Apply . If you do not have a password on your account, a box will pop up asking if you want to assign a password. This must be done if you want to make the folder private, so click Yes . You will need to use your password to log on to your computer from then on.
Type in a password then confirm it. Click the "Create Password" button then close the Password window.
Click OK in the Properties dialog box.
Now anyone else logged on to your computer can't access that file without knowing your password.

File sharing between windows 2000 and XP


1) I believe that Windows XP is not setup for that by default,
you may need to install the old BETBUI service.

2) Also, if the 2000 machine has a login password installed,
it will NOT allow any other machine to browse it, without
logging in.

3) Password-less file sharing over NETBUI was available
on the consumer side of windows:

Windows 3.11 for Work groups
Windows 95, 98 and Millenium.

The professional versions of windows, built on NT
technology require a login:

Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP,
and now Vista.

4) The best work around is to login to the 2000 machine when
it prompts you for a password, using your regular USER ID
and PASSWORD.

If the 2000 machine is not setup with a secure login,
just create a new account, ranking power user or higher.

5) Note that you only need to login over the network ONCE,
because windows XP can REMEMBER your password,
and login automatically the next time.

6) Make sure that the firewall (or A firewall) is not
blocking access to either machine, just disable the
firewalls for testing.

Similarly, if your LAN is behind a residential router, using
the router as a smart hub or switch, make sure that
the routers MAC address access blocking is disabled,
until you get everything setup and tested.

7) Finally if a PC is not visible in a work group, this does not
mean that it is not accessible. This is a Windows quirk.

You can try to access another computer by using the
default/administrative shares. These shares cannot be
disabled in XP, at least they will not stay disabled, as
they will restart during every reboot, whether you like it
or not.

This means that you can ALWAYS access all the drives
on another machine, whether you share them or not, unless
you take extreme measures in the local policies.

To access drive "E:" on a computer called "Henry" on a
machine in the same work-group,

open up windows explorer, and tyr the following into the
address line:

\\Henry\E$

This should access drive E:, after some delay, and possibly
a login prompt, even though drive is is NOT marked as
shared.

FORGOT PASSWORD AND CANT GET IN


When you boot keep pressing F8, go to safe mode , log in as administrator, go to controlpanel, users, select your user name, select change password, type in new password, close everything out, re-boot. type in new password at prompt.
