Question about Washing Machines

How do you get to the file valve? Do I remove the rear panel?

Kennmore model 110 washing machine. How do you access the fill valve to replace it. What should I remove? The back, top, side? I removed the top control panel. I started removing the rear panel but stopped after noticing some plastic that are holding things on the inside.

You get at the the valve by removing the washing machine cabinet, not by taking off the back. The process is described well in pictures here. It's not a difficult process at all, and you can save quite a bit by doing this repair yourself.

Kenmor model 110 will not fill

I would remove the hoses and check the inlet screens for trash and sediment. If that was all good I would check the solenoids for continuity. I would remove the connectors and briefly power up the hot and cold solenoids to see if anything mechanical inside the valve is haywire. If all of that was good I would take a look at the temp selector switch. To get to the valve and replace it you must know how to get into this machine. I have a page that shows how to access the water valve HERE

Slow to fill on most cycles, top loader. Kenmore washer takes forever to fill to the level needed to wash clothes.Model # 110 (92284800), Serial #CC0523352.

Turn off the water. Remove the cold water hose from the machine. Clean the sediment out of the screen on the water valve. You can remove the screen with a bent paper clip. Replace the screen after cleaning.

Kennmore elite model #110 just buzzes

I would recommend checking your lid switch. If the washer fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle and drain, this is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug.

If not activated by a lid strike, other models have the lid switch located under the washer casing next to one of the lid hinges. It is activated by a rod contacting an actuator. The mounting scews for this type are located under the operator console.

If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to access the washer interior and replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at appliancepartspros.com, searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, or repairclinic.com.

If you need further assistance, please post back with a complete model number so that I may be able to assist you better. I hope this helps you.

Washer continures to fill up with water to the point of over flowing and won't start a cycle

is most probably the inlet valve at the rear of the machine where the inlet hose connects too.
May have to remove the rear panel to gain access to valve, it may just be a wire has come off
Hope this helps

Kenmore Series 70 washing machine whines and low flow on cold H2O

Yeah you need to replace the water valve. To get to it you need to remove the cabinet on the newer direct drive models, If yours has a rear access panel then you simply pop the top to get to the valve after removing the hoses. Fairly simple job. Here is a good website for direct drive coupling replacement . It shows you how to open the cabinet. http://repair2000.com/coupling.html
GVI 151 is the generic part that fix all belt drive models. Direct drive will need its own little water valve buy hay it ain't but 20 bucks.
For a better explanation post you model number in the comment box and I will research it further for you amigo.
