My oven does not start

Hello there:
It doesn't work at all dot_lineone.gif 1. No power
Make sure there's power getting to your range, oven or cooktop. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the appliance, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced. ^ top clear.gif Top element doesn't work dot_lineone.gif 1. Top element
If the element only works partially or not getting red hot at the "Hi" setting, the problem might be with a burned out receptacle that the element plugs into. If this is the case, replace both the element and the receptacle.

You can usually tell when the element itself burns out. It might have small holes or bubbles on the coil. Replace the element, if found defective.

2. Infinite switch
Another reason, why the element would not start, might be a defective infinite switch (located behind the control panel, with the burner knob on its shaft). Replace the switch if found defective.

Hot water runs out in 5 minutes it use to last 20minutes

Electric water heater can be repaired by homeowner.

Water heater has some hot water.
We know 3 things for sure:
- electricity is ok
- upper element is ok
- tank does not have overheating problem

Here are the suspects:
- Burned or loose wire
- Upper thermostat not working
- Lower thermostat not working
- Lower element not working

What to do:
1) Turn off power, open water heater covers and look for signs of burned or loose wire, especially on lower element. Burned wire on lower element says lower element is burned out.

2) Test lower element.
Lower elements burn out when sediment builds up inside tank.

3) If wires are ok. And you do not want to test parts, then replace upper and lower thermostat for 25$. If problem persists, replace lower element.

4) If you want to test thermostats and elements before replacing anything:

5) When finished, be sure to put insulation and covers back on tank so thermostats don't receive cool air and misread tank temperature. This will prevent overheating of tank that causes red reset button to trip.

One of my GE toaster oven's 2 top elements burned out

Hello. It is very difficult finding parts for and appliance over ten years old. I recommend that you shop a bit for a new toaster oven. They are much less costly than they used to be and work better. Plus they have a warranty. J.

The bottom heating element is not working on my thermador prgs/36

one of 3 things may of happed. 1, the element may have burned out. (you will see a blister or burn through on surface of element. 2 the wires that go to the element may have burned off. 3 the power relay board is not sending power to the element. (bad board or fans sail switch NG)All things need to be checked with 220v power off to the range. I would recomend calling a local pro.

Look very carefully where the bread pan goes in. There is a heating element around it. If the bread pan is too close or touching the heating element ( the round thing running around the wall), it will burn the bread. You can try moving the bread pan away from the heating element. If you try and bend the heating element, it may break the element, so move the bread pan only.

Bake Element

There should only be two wires that go to the element. It won't matter which wire goes on which terminal. Turn power off to unit before replacing the element. In some cases when the element burns out and breaks in have it will send a surge back to the oven control board and it will need to be replaced also. You will know once the element is replaced if it doesn't heat up.

Burned out element

When the element burned in 2 iot may have tripped your circuit breaker.
Check your breaker box and look for a 40 or 50 amp breaker and flip it off and then back to on. If this doesn't help then a tech. may need to be called for service.
