I have the ihome ia96 ( with the rotating dock) and I have an issue. The sound will not work. I have reset everything that I can reset and I think that the speakers have blown out. I'm past the warranty so I can't return it. Any suggestions?

Just purchased a used iH9 and I can't get any sound from the radio or ipod. I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right and I've reset the iH9 by removing the batteries and disconnecting the power. Any suggestions?
Welcome to the wonderful world of the iHome frying the Ipod. Your iHome, has most likely fried the mainboard on your ipod. to check plug a usb into the ipod and connect to the computer. if it comes up disconnect the usb and try a headphones in the jack. if it doesn;t play sound its fried and you will need a new mainboard. if it does play through the headphone jack, your lucky and keep it off the dock.
I have fixed at least 30 ipods taken out by ihome docks and other docks. they are terrible for the ipod. Even Apple sells the docks on their website that shows how much they care about the product.
Hey I figured it out. When you bought the 4th generation ipod nano it came with it's own dock insert. It fits perfectly and fixes everything, including the remote issues. Now my only problem is I have a black ihome and a white insert :( Good luck!
When I first got my ipod touch and my ihome I had no problems and then all of a sudden everything worked except for the ihome wouldn't play music. It charged properly and the alarm and clock worked fine just the music wouldn't play. So I assumed it was the ihome and took it back and exchanged it only to get home and have the exact same problem. So I reset my Ipod and it worked. To do it you have to hold the sleep button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across it to turn off. Press and hold the sleep button until the apple comes on. Next I sync'ed and looke dfor an update. After all this I docked it and it worked.
